Resmed airsense

Post by Mainemagoo » Mon Mar 14, 2016 8:37 pm

It seems they will give me the resmes airsense machine. Is this a good one?
If not, can I demand another?

There are 4 different models of this machine. Which one? The Autoset or Autoset for Her are excellent, and the Elite is acceptable. The CPAP base model is not.

there are *four* resmed airsense 10 machines, avoid the one labeled "CPAP".

the Autoset for Her is the preferable model, even for hims.

Not sure. I think airsense. I'll have to ask again. I have a choice - right? I can get any machine I want?

Resmed:
Airsense:
CPAP - crap, avoid
Elite - good single pressure, full data
Autoset - great full data, auto mode available.
Autoset for Her - same as autoset, but an extra mode that might work better even for guys.

*FOUR* *DIFFERENT* airsense machines.

Airsense is a "family" of machines, in the current Resmed line.
The daddy is the Autoset, Mommy is the Autoset For Her.
The Elite is the smart, but single minded (pressure) son.
The "cpap" is the step kid that rides the short bus. OK?
Yes, you can get the one you want, but you may have to fight for it.
Just do not, under any circumstances, take the wrong one home.
IT'S A TRICK! And you will be STUCK with it.

only thing i don't like is the automatic turning on as soon as you don the mask, whether you are ready for it or not. And then when you try to turn off, it often refuses or goes right back on again, even after i take it off. aggravating, annoying and ridiculous.

The Following machines are great:

Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset
Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset for Her
Resmed S9 Autoset
Resmed S9 Autoset for Her

The following machines are ok:

Resmed Airsense 10 Elite
Resmed S9 Elite

The following machines are not recommended:

Resmed AirSense 10 CPAP
Resmed S9 Escape
Resmed S9 Escape Auto

Note that "Resmed S10 or S9" isn't specific enough. That's like saying, "Ford truck, 2016 or 2010" - There are a lot of trucks in the lineup.

You have to make sure you get an "autoset" model, not just an auto, not an elit, and not the one that's just a dumb CPAP.

The autoset models can be set up as regular CPAP. Insist on getting an autoset model, and have them set it up as a CPAP and tell them you are making sure you are getting a machine that meets your future needs, and not just your needs now.

Also note that the bipap and servo machines are great as well, but if you're getting one of those you won't have a choice, and it'll be a good machine.

Just don't let them send you home with a simple cpap machine if you can avoid it. Autoset is the suggested minimum.

there are *at least* FOURTEEN different resmed S9 models, a couple are crap, the rest are great.

and as has been explained many times before, there are FOUR different airsense 10 models.

S10 is a small chevy pickup, I suggest you don't use that for sleep apnea, you'll burn your lips on the tailpipe.

you've asked the same question so many times and apparently paid not attention to the answers that I'm starting to think you're just jerking us around for the fun of it.

I suggest you learn something and quit repeating the same questions:

Are you even reading what has been posted in this thread?
Each of those is a "generation" of machine, with MANY models in each generation.

Again, it depends on WHICH machine within the respective "generations" you're talking about.

ResMed introduced the S9 generation (family) of machines in about 2010. ( actually late 2009 )
In about 2014, they introduced the Airsense 10 generation (family) of machines (the date in the manuals is 08/2014).

Edit to add:

Here's a list of the "generations" of ResMed machines going back to 1988......from the manuals and documentation I have.

Sullivan Nasal CPAP System ( R2 ) - 1988

Sullivan V ( 5 ) - 1999

ResMed S6 - 2001

ResMed Autoset Spirit - 2001

ResMed S7 - 2002

ResMed S8 - 2005

ResMed S8 II ( 2 ) - 2008

ResMed S9 - 2009

ResMed AirSense 10 - 2014

Den

.
(5) REMstar Autos w/C-Flex & (6) REMstar Pro 2 CPAPs w/C-Flex - Pressure Setting = 14 cm.
"Passover" Humidification - ResMed Ultra Mirage FF - Encore Pro w/Card Reader & MyEncore software - Chiroflow pillow

If you feel like you deserve the latest and greatest; ASK FOR IT.
If they try to sell you an old piece of crap; remember where you came in--the door?
Turn around and use it to leave.
