Ahi finally below 5!

Post by Gcfcos » Fri Mar 11, 2016 4:00 am

So happy! With my pressure set to 6cm after 2 nights my ahi has come right down. Went from 6.5 to 7.6 which was frustrating, then it went to 2.5 and last night was 0.1. Yesterday I was literally bouncing off the walls with energy and managed to do a full day's work for the first time in months,
Woke up today feeling great. So happy it's working at last after a month of use!

60cm? I don't know os a machine that goes that high?

Anyway, congratulations on the result. I'm still working my way to that wonderful point.

Lol made a mistake there! 60cm would blow your face off lol. Edited! Yeah I've had one of the worst months with constant disappointment and it just suddenly happened! Going to take a while to catch up on sleep but feeling so much better already!! Got an ear infection which isn't helping and it's causing headaches and I'm having to use a stocking chin strap over the face of my mask to stop it leaking which isn't very comfortable!

Didn't they have you up to 15cm last week?

I am glad you found a pressure that works for you.

Thanks so much guys, if it wasn't for the help I've had on this forum it wouldn't have happened. I was on 15cm and it didn't work so I turned it up to 16cm myself and worked a treat got an appointment with the specialist Monday to see about
Another mask as we think it's too small

Excellent news! And it also reconfirms taking an average result over time, rather than adjusting to the whims of any individual night. Good luck at your appt.

Yes, this is what I am just beginning to learn. Upped my minimum pressure back up to 10 after trying 8 and then 9 and my AHIs came crashing back down.

Sleepyhead report says:

You had an AHI of 7.55, which is considered not very good
You machine was on for 5 hours, 18 minutes and 0 seconds.
You had no major mask leaks (maximum was 16.00 L/min).
Your pressure was under 13.1cmH2O for 95% of the time.

I'm now back at 10-14 and I'll leave it like that for a week and also see what the new cervical collar does for me.

Reading a post like the one from gcfcos tells me that I can eventually find the right balance and end up with that good night's sleep. I'm so pleased that it's finally worked for him

I fly out to Perth on Good Friday to stay with my brother and sister-in-law. I sleep there on a folded out sofa. The way this one folds out it slopes slightly outwards on both sides from the middle meaning it's almost impossible to sleep on my back. Very hard to sleep on a hard 20cm ridge. I'll be interested to see what that does to my numbers.

Tell them to pick up a memory foam mattress topper - it makes a world of difference in that situation. I slept on something like that this summer when my daughter had an operation, bought one after the first night and survived nicely for 6 weeks.
