Mask Fit setting on DreamStation

Post by augustsilverbear » Wed Mar 09, 2016 10:47 am

Anyone know the correct mask setting for Amara View on Dream Station, and does using such a setting make any difference in leak rates? Current leak rates for Amara View as reflected by DreamMapper range from 99% mask fit with :05 hrs and 1.1% large leak down to 99% mask fit with :03hrs and 0.6% large leak. I currently have not entered a mask setting on Dream Station for the Amara View. My pressure range is currently 6-8.

Why not try a couple of settings and see if it makes a difference?

the mask setting has nothing to do with leaks, it changes the pressure compensation that the machine does to help it try and get the right pressure at your face.

there should be a number somewhere on the mask, set the mask setting to match.

Thanks guys, I have entered the mask setting in the Dream Station. Will see if there is any benefit to having done so tonight.

As OkyDoky said, it is X1. The number is located on the front of the bag, above the barcode. As palerider said, it's more so the machine can calibrate to the mask so you get the right pressure. I don't think it will do much for the leaking but it might help lower your AHI a bit. Report back if you see any difference.

from looking at the different masks, x1 is sort of 'default' for low resistance masks (full face) and the resistance compensation for machines is pretty simple for those, for higher resistance masks, like nasal pillows, then it has more effect.

it's my firm opinion that resmed does the same things with their mask type settings, which is what respironics copied in the 60 series with their resistance settings.
