Changing the time on a ResMed A10

Post by Dancers Need Sleep! » Tue Mar 08, 2016 11:35 am

My machine is set 3 hours ahead of the actual local time (from this and other settings I suspect my DME just took it out of the box and gave it to me without setting it up at all). The clinical manual warns that changing the time could cause data loss, so I emailed my DME to ask about it. He sent me instructions on changing the time without addressing the data issue, so I decided to try it. Unfortunately, when I try to set the time back 3 hours the machine tells me that the time cannot be set into the past.

Do I have any options beyond living with it or completely resetting the machine and starting over, which the doctor probably won't want me to do?

Thanks!

I would get a second card from the DME or you local store (walmart) ... any SD card will work ... and keep the first with the data on it ... then reset the machine and use the new card .... so when you visit the Dr. take both cards.
If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

Get the Clinicians manual here : http://apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-press ... tup-manual

That's a great idea, thanks! I didn't know it was that easy to use a different SD card.

My answer from a previous thread

As an aside, I would like to fix the time, but the ResMed clinical manual warns about possible data loss if you do that. Does anyone know how to do it safely? i suspect that my DME did not set up this machine at all, just took it out of the box and gave it to me (it was also set to Pillows for mask type, when he had set my husband's machine to Nasal for the DreamMask).
Easiest method: Wait until after noon machine time, say around 5:00 PM (machine time), before you've used the machine for that day, then set the time back, in your case, to 2:00PM.
It appears (to me) that ResMed is trying to prevent people from altering their compliance data with their time setting policy. One can always set the time ahead, but setting it back into a period where there is data for the day could trigger the need to erase all saved data. Remember, ResMed days start at noon.
To be safe, never set the day back. Only the hours. It the day is accidentally set ahead, correct it by subtracting hours as in the instruction above (over multiple days, if necessary).
It's really not too difficult

Thanks Jay - I missed that on the other thread (obviously).

Having a second SD card as GG4 suggests is not a bad idea, but even if you create a situation where you have to reset the machine, all is not lost. As long as you have downloaded your data to SleepyHead and/or ResScan before the reset, you can continue to add to it to prepare a history of treatment if necessary. It's essentially the same as continuing treatment with a new machine. For example, I have continuous ResScan data from 2009, generated from at least 3 machines and including probably a couple times I've had to do a reset. Even so, I can generate reports which cover all or a portion of that time frame.
