Cpap usage

Is it true that I have to use my Cpap for the rest of my life? I'm not saying its a bad thing but is it true?

As long as you have apnea, you'll need Cpap, and apnea's not known to go away just like that. However, science and technology are changing very quickly and new ideas are being tested even now that don't involve Cpap, so it's likely you won't necessarily need it forever, but be careful of 'quick or easy fix' answers being advertised as the great majority have been tried and found inadequate (if they hadn't been, we wouldn't all still be on Cpap ).

I was recently diagnosed with OSA and been using the CPAP machine. I did asked my doctor the same question as well.
Before i really have a better understanding of CPAP therapy, i thought my OSA will go away after a period of CPAP therapy. But its not.

My doctor actually gave me a good example to fully understand CPAP therapy. He said, if you are short sighted, you will need a pair of glasses. But it does not mean that after wearing glasses for a period, the short sightedness will go away. Same goes to CPAP therapy, it will not go away, likewise, it will make you feel better.

glasses for your seeing, cpap for your breathing.

I guess that any mask on your face while you sleep is definitely not comfortable. Its a matter of getting used to it and building up that tolerance level.
Having said that, most importantly, its for your well being. Im getting used to this machine already, and indeed its already a good 'friend'

Hi. I knew I needed a new study but for kicks I called my ENT doctor who prescribed my study and cpap a decade ago to see if I could get a new prescription. He said yes because he considers it a life long condition. So I'm guessing he wants me to use it for life. Kind of surprised he didn't want to see me though, it's been 7 years since I saw him.
