Current Reporting Technology

Post by chillydip » Tue Feb 23, 2016 6:10 pm

I have a 2009 Remstar M series machine with card reader and Windows software so I can evaluate the data whenever I feel the need to. I notice that the new machines now typically seem to communicate via wifi and am wondering if the the capability is generally provided to download the data to one's own computer in addition to or instead of a doctors or DME providers computer. Probably will be getting a new machine fairly soon. Are there particular brands/models that facilitate
what I would like to continue to do?

Current versions of Respironics machines all have a slot for an SD card which can be read by software on a home Windows computer.

The current software available for this purpose is:
Encore Pro
Encore Basic
and
SleepyHead

Sleepyhead is preferred by many on this forum and is a private effort of one of the members.
Encore Pro and Encore Basic are products from Philips-Respironics.

It is likely that you have a version of Encore called Encore Viewer but that version will not work with the current Philips machines. An upgrade will be required.
All of these programs can be downloaded at no cost.

no machines communicate via wifi.

you can put a wifi SD card in them and download data that way. most people just pull the SD card and read it in their computers.

to be fair, OP probably just meant over the air transmission which in this case is some type of cellular data.

On the new machines the communication to the DME and/or doctor is thru a wireless cellular network but the SD card remains as a backup.

and, it's *wrong*. to NOT correct that leaves the very real possibility that the OP will buy a machine and get frustrated as hell trying to connect it to his wifi network... which, of course, is impossible.

wifi, bluetooth, cellular (and all its variants), lifi, vhf, uhf, tv, c band, ku band... all over the air, all incompatible.

for me, the sd card is primary, because according to my sources *looks around shiftily) most machines only transmit detailed data, not high-rate data, so the doc/dme can't see all the goodness on most of them.

+1
I was talking about it as a backup for " the ones interested in compliance".
