When are they going to find us a better solution?

Post by Crapycpap » Tue Feb 02, 2016 4:10 pm

I'm a cpap user with severe SA. Mask doesn't give me nothing come the next morning. Been under doctor's supervision for 8 years and tried everything..Just one of those people who don't benefit from the mask..He says my apenea's are under control, but I'm so tired the next morning, most of the time..On meds now but my wife hates it because she says I'm not myself , but they do work for me unfortunately.. Anyone in the same boat or has been and did somthing that worked???

take control of your therapy, learn how to pull the data from your machine, (hopefully it's not a brick) learn what that data *means* and what you can do to optimize your therapy. doctors are often woefully inadequate.

fill out your profile so that you've given us some information to go on, and start to take control.

if I've used any terms you don't understand, then search for them here on the forum, and expand your knowledge, it's the first step towards feeling better.

I find being on an exercise program helps me some. I am not talking about hitting the gym for
an hour or 2 every day just getting a 1/2 hour walk most days. I just started back doing this
3 weeks ago and I already feel better, my AHI is a few points lower even though I haven't lost
any weight. And no one hates exercise more than I do but it does make me feel better.

Thanks for the reply. Just joined today so I'll get my info and equipment up tomorrow.. Asfar as the exercising goes I agree, I also do light to moderate manual labor during work so I am getting a good amount of exercise in sense..I just got a new machine about 7 months ago , apparently has WiFi they can pull my chip from there office on my appointments... I also go on my air and see my last night's results to keep an eye on my apenea's...

Does anyone have any suggestions on a comfortable full face mask that doesn't leave marks , and is tolerable through the course of the night??

I find the F10 to be a very comfortable mask, and I love that it doesn't have a forehead strap. Mask Liners will help with leaks, and strap covers will help with the marks on your face. Google "cpap mask liners" and then do "cpap strap covers" to find these. One brand of liners is RemZzzzs, and at http://www.padacheek.com you will find another style of liners and oodles of strap covers. You may find others by googling... and many DMEs carry the ReZzzzs liners, but they are also available online.

Now using AirFit F10 mask; Quattro Air is backup mask. RemZzzz mask liners with both.

What machine do you have? There are different humidifier settings depending on which machine you have. Dry mouth can happen from mouth breathing. If you use Sleepyhead you can see if you have leaks. If you try increasing humidity and a FF mask and still have dry mouth you can try Orajel for Dry Mouth. I have to use it before bed when the dry mouth starts waking me up.

Make sure it says Orajei FOR DRY MOUTH. There are other Orajel products. There are several other threads discussing oral appliances. Here are some you can check. viewtopic/t102732/search.php?keywords=m ... dvancement

A tennis/sports headband is a cheap strap cover. Just cut it to the right length and slip it over the strap.

Masks are like shoes - they must fit your feet and be designed for the kind of walking you plan to do.
All masks leave marks, they disappear within an hour.
You can get strap covers and liners from Padacheek.com - it helps reduce the marks.

If you would fill out your equipment profile we could give you more specific information. This might help. wiki/index.php/Registering_Equipment_in_User_Profile
If your machine doesn't show up you can type it in the Edit Signature area. Once we know this information we can guide you to the clinical manual to your machine which gives you all the information about your machine that the DME has.
If your machine is full data capable we can show you how to read your card and know all the information that your machine stores. With learning and knowledge you can help yourself.
