Centrals are usually from heart problems, brain stem injury or extensive drug use. The obstructive or physical apnea is from being a human being and having the physical ability to talk. It is just a thing.

Good for you for a)Lasting two whole nights and b) getting results where you felt better in a short period of time. I hope you stick with it because there are a lot of nasty complications to leaving your apnea untreated. Hope it works for you. - GB

Pretty much what the first poster said. Many people think OSA is something caused by being overweight. There is some truth to that, since fat deposits in and around the throat can worsen or even cause OSA, but for many people their genetics/throat structure is simply prone to blockage and there really isn't anything they did to cause it.

I have a strong family history of sleep apnea in which the folks affected vary from being thin to overweight. So I definitely agree with your point about genetics and throat structure.

Thanks..

My neck size is 16

No family history for SA

Snoring started louder in recent years. Also felt tired in the mornings and day.
Now with CPAP no snoring detected.

Used nasal mask with hose on top. iPhone app shows mask fit 100% and disconnects 2

Hope the therapy continues to work.

I don't believe the manufacturer is too responsive to letters, email, etc.

They say the last big software/hardware up grade was some 200,000 years ago. There have been a few apps developed since then - white skin for vitamin D , blue eyes, lactose tolerance, malaria resistance (a bit of a problem there - sickle cell anemia ) but nothing for that side effect to the much earlier upgrade to make it talk. In fact the last upgrade to make the I/O interface more streamlined and attractive made it worse.

Hi Deep3 .. Trigger points vary from person to person. Throat structure, being overweight, family history... all contribute. I doubt the manufacturer is going to be able to answer your question... a knowledgeable doctor might be able to tell you what contributed to your sleep apnea.

Why not register, tell us about your equipment/mask, etc. There are experienced people here who would be able to help with any other questions you might have regarding your therapy. Do you use SleepyHead? Sleepyhead will assist you in getting your therapy dialed in correctly. Check the top of the first page and you'll see Pugsy's Pointers.

Happy your first few nights were so successful. The important thing is to keep using your machine/mask at pressure requirements that are correct for you. Best of luck~

They probably have a busy bank of lawyers seeing they are manufacturing a known defective product, can don't even plan on correcting the problems. But for those that won't use XPAP, they have developed a Recall process, called slow death. It will nor resolve the defect, but it will end the complaints. Jim

Welcome aboard - please clarify your before and after AHI numbers and what machine you are using?

Single pressure is rare and usually not optimal in the world of APAP machines.

well, *TECHNICALLY* speaking, his mother would be the manufacturer... so it would depend on the relationship therein...
