Medigas CPAP options

Post by Snoremaster3000 » Thu Jan 21, 2016 1:57 pm

Greetings everyone,

I live in Ontario and was diagnosed last night with sleep apnea after a night at a sleep clinic.

My doctor is forwarding my prescription to a local Medigas store and I'm hoping those of you that have purchased your equipment from Medigas could provide some purchasing recommendations in terms of which CPAP machines I should consider and any other specific products I should consider.

Thanks!

Do you know yet what brand and model of machines they will be offering?
Same thing with mask choice?

I know they do things differently in terms of what sort of machine that the government will help you pay for and I assume you will be looking to get the machine to be paid for in part by the government coverage.
So what we might suggest could vary if you weren't planning on relying for government cost subsidies.

We have some forum member here who live in Ontario that could maybe help with the specifics involved and if you do a forum search for "Ontario" you might find prior discussions.

It really depends on what your prescription is for. Until you know what your prescription is for, looking at a certain machine/brand is irrelevant. The government will only fund you dependent on what your sleep test scores are.

I'm from Ontario, and I purchased at a Medigas. I paid the standard amount for a VPAP (an automatic bi-level), which is 25% of the ADP cost.

Even if you decide to purchase the machine out of pocket, it will still be cheaper to buy the machine in Canada. An example. An Airsense 10 Auto is $825 USD, which is now $1170 CAD without including shipping. In Toronto, you can get the same machine for $1055 CAD including free shipping.
