Pillows vs full mask on the settings? Had it wrong.

Post by Tango » Sun Jan 17, 2016 12:51 pm

I have an airsense 10 by resmed.
After reading the heartburn posts i decided to change/ check some pressure settings. But what I noticed was the section under "masks". I had been using it while it was in "pillow" mode , when I have a full face mask.
I am curious what the difference will be tonight. Hopefully it will relate in me using a lower pressure. I usually average around 12.
Anyway, just curious if this will change things and how drastically .
Thx and have a nice day/night.

there's an open debate on what exactly the mask type setting does. some people say it has to do with the leak display, and some (well, mainly me) say it factors into how the machine adjusts the actual amount of pressure it generates, to give you a more precise pressure at the mask. (humidifiers, extra filters, hoses, and masks, all have some resistance to the air flow, and the machine factors that in and attempts to compensate for those resistances as you breath)

either way, the mask type setting very likely only has a MINOR effect, much less than, for example, picking 'slimline' hose when you have a regular size hose... I had that wrong one time, on a new machine, and I thought the thing was broken, because the pressure was noticeably more than I was used to... after setting the hose type right, it felt normal again.
