Help, no short hose with DreamWear - can't use hose hanger

Post by jagzoo » Thu Jan 07, 2016 1:32 pm

Hi, Does anyone have any ideas that might help me?

I just received a new DreamWear mask from our sponsors (with insurance!) and was very surprised/dismayed to find that there isn't any short hose with it. My APAP is in a lower drawer next to my bed and the hose is run up to the head of the bed and then through a hose management system. Without a short mask hose the heated hose isn't long enough. I tried it without the hanger system but there is too much pulling on the mask (I am a very restless sleeper). Has anyone found any short hose that will attach to the DreamWear? I have tried the Swift FX hose which is the only mask that I have with a removable hose but it won't attach.

I really wanted this to work as both nares are irritated, and there is a sore in one nostril, from coughing/blowing nose due to a bad chest/sinus infection and wanted to give them respite from my P10 (which normally you couldn't get away from me)!

I was shocked to not find a short hose - kept looking for it, thinking I had missed it. If I can't find a solution I will return the mask, although I know it is very popular and was hoping it could be an sore-nares alternative. Am I the only one who is having this trouble? If not has anyone found any solution? Am I missing an easy fix?

Thanks for reading.

The Circadiance Featherweight hose will work. Proven by a couple of forum members who had that hose and got the DreamWear mask and tried it.

Great,

Thank You Pugsy!

I am ordering it ASAP -like now. Even if I find that the DreamWear doesn't work, the Featherweight hose is worth the minimal expense to try it.

I'm ordering too! Love my Dreamwear, but keep wishing the tubing was a bit longer. I tried my P10 short hose without success.

I was under the impression that one of the advantages of he dreamwear is that one can easily drag the hose around without pulling the mask off. Is this not your experience? I ask because I have been considering getting one.

Hi WindCap,

Can't say for sure. I am used to the ResMed P10 for her - that is certainly light weight. But it has a short hose attached. The DreamWear that I just received doesn't have a hose attached and it just isn't long enough to use my hose hanger. My APAP is in a drawer next to my bed, then the hose goes from there around to the head of my bed, up to the hose hanger and then to me. With my other masks there is a short hose that attaches to the APAP hose near my side of the hose hanger and then to me. With this mask, I have about 1.5 feet less hose.

I'll try it tonight without the hose hanger and see how it does. But have ordered the Featherweight hose to see if it attaches. I love my nasal pillows but have a sinus/chest infection that has my nares raw and inflamed - would like a mask that doesn't go into my nose for just these times. First time in 3 years but... Would like a backup. And can't stand anything else on my face.

Will let you know.

Thanks but I like my heated APAP hoses (ResMed and Respironics)- I just want a replacement for the short hose like the ones on all my other masks.

I've never used a hose hanger (I've always tucked my hose with slack), but I don't know that they are even necessary with the Dreamwear since movement doesn't affect the mask seal with the connection point on top of the head.

I use a tube management clip: https://www.cpap.com/productpage/cpap-hose-clip.html

Just use that to clip the hose to the corner of the fitted bed sheet, then run the hose straight up along the headboard. I put my mask on while sitting up, and don't connect the hose until I'm laying down. The hose extends a couple feet past where my head lays, so I just curve it back and connect it with the elbow going out to the side. This keeps the hose from hitting the headboard and pushing the elbow into my head. I toss and turn a lot in my sleep and I never have a problem with this setup.

He had a distance issue. And yes, the Featherweight works fine with all the mask so far.

I have a Dreamwear - was fabulous the first couple of nights and then too many leaks. At the same time, I ran into issues with anything at all touching my face. Turns out, I had an ear infection that was slowly expanding to my face. Going to try out the Dreamwear again tonight. Really, it was SO comfy, I was disappointed with the leaks, but sometimes you just have to figure out how to adjust it to yourself.

Dreamwear didn't work out for me due to noise, but had no problem without a hose hanger. I've been using a hose hanger with nasal pillow masks (where the hose comes off the nose piece) for several years now, a life saver. And I was also expecting to use the hose hanger with the Dreamwear. However, the way that the Dreamwear hose comes off the top of the head part of the mask instead of the nose piece, I just used the regular 6 foot ResMed Climateline tubing and had no problem...the tubing just stayed out of the way and was no problem. You might give that a chance and see how it goes. It is a little lower profile without the hose hanger, and I liked that part...too bad that I found the mask too noisy *smile*.

I ditched my hose hanger because I found it was providing no benefit with the way the hose attaches to the DreamWear at the top of the head.

This mask is the best mask I've used yet. It is super comfortable, easiest to change sides/back that I've used since the ComfortLite2, and my AHI has dropped from an average of 0.56 to 0.3 in the 3 weeks since I switched to the DreamWear. A winner all around, so far.
