New User Saying Thanks

Post by lbk454 » Mon Jan 04, 2016 5:42 pm

I had a sleep study in 2009 and it showed mild apnea. After discussing with the doctor, I successfully used a mandibular advancement device for several years along with some exercises to strengthen the soft tissues. I could tell that over time it was becoming less effective, and I knew I was headed toward CPAP at some point and totally had myself psyched out about this. About a month ago I did an overnight oxygen study and for about 5 minutes my oxygen was around 89% and the doctor suggested CPAP. I found this site a couple of years ago and have been lurking in the background reading a lot of topics and posts on here. Knowing so many people have gone down this road before and the great advice really helped me over the mental hurdle. I started APAP ast week and so far have been doing pretty well - slept 9 hours with it the first night and about 8 hours each night since. The only issues are some waking due to noise of the Dream Wear mask or a feeling it is leaking (the machine says no leaking and I see others on here have had the same feeling until they get used to it). Thanks so much for the great forum and good information.
