Getting back in to CPAP therapy

Post by beth2507 » Mon Jan 04, 2016 3:42 pm

Hi everyone,

I got off track with using my CPAP when I experienced some insomnia this summer. I saw my sleep doctor and the plan is to get a new mask, do an auto titration and try to get back on track. I haven't worn CPAP in awhile and feel anxious about using it again. FOr awhile I was having trouble falling asleep with the mask on. I am currently still suffering with some insomnia despite following good sleep hygene but the doctor says I really have to get back to CPAP anyway. Unfortunately I don't have a data capable machine and am not qualified for a new one yet with my insurance, so I only know so much about it. Can anyone offer me any support or encouragement or similar stories? I would really appreciate it.

You might get a good titration and do well. If you have any problems, they may be common problems, and you can get help here.

How many nights will you have the APAP for titration?

I will have the auto titration machine for two weeks. The main problem I was having was feeling claustrophobic and anxious with the mask on my face, but I have read that that can be helped by wearing the mask during the day and trying to get used to it or desentizied to it. I also would get frustrated and rip the mask off to sleep but I am not going to do that this time, if I can't sleep I'll get up and do something and come back and try again.

Two weeks is good and increases your chance for success.

Here, I will ask some of the more tech savvy members to help. Since the machine Beth owns is not data capable, it would seem important for Beth to save the data from her two weeks titration. Is getting Sleepyhead running and importing the data of the auto titration machine just before she turns the machine (and data card) in, the best way to do this?
