Setting up a remstar Plus or Auto with C-Flex

Post by alfa » Sun Jul 09, 2006 10:34 pm

I live outside the US and a relative from the US has agreed to give me a CPAP as a present (talk about generosity). The problem is the local distributor here refuses to set up the machine for me when it arrives. The price difference between here and in the US is significant so i cannot convince my relative to send the cash and buy it here.

My question is if I have a a Remstar Plus or remstar Auto

1. CAn i ask the seller CPAP.com or where ever my relative will buy it from to set it up using my phgysician's prescription?
2. If not can i set it up myself. I'm a little techy myself and can open up and service PC's so i'm not afraid to expirement.
3. Do i need any special tools, skill or data aside from good common sense and a sleep doctor's prescription to set up my CPAP?

Thanks

so you don't know what machine you're getting? do you at least know if it is a m series or the previous series? and no there is no need for tools to set it up, and if it is a previous series auto like this one, https://www.cpap.com/productpage/1623 just hold down the two user buttons underneath the lcd while plugging it in, that will get you into the set-up menu. the user buttons will help you navigate through the menus. to change the values of whatever menu you are in use the ramp and heat buttons to go up or down, if you have any other questions about the setup of the other type of machine be sure to use the search feature because it prolly has been posted before. good luck.

hopefully you do get the auto, it's a great machine, you won't be disappointed with it.

You will not need any tools. You definitely will not need to open up the machine's case.

The guest is correct about the way to access the "therapy setup" menu....by unplugging the machine's power cord, then holding down two buttons (usually the two center buttons on top of the machine) while plugging it back in... continuing to hold those two buttons down for several seconds after plugging the machine's power cord in. The machine will beep, perhaps more than once. The LCD display will begin blinking. You are into the "therapy setup" menu when you see it blinking.

alfa, If its purchased at cpap.com, it with come with the set-up manual. Furthermore, most of the manuals for the more popular machines are availble from sellers on eBay in both download and paper form.
