Hi Folks,
Recently we had a power outage and I found myself without power most of the night. I was so tired I fell asleep without my machine on and it was not a pleasant day the next day. I felt really light headed and not good.
I'm getting ready to travel out of the country soon and I'm looking to purchase a power backup pack of some kind that will travel well and also something I can use at home when the next power outage happens. Something I can plug into the wall and charge up when we have power and I can plug my machine into it when we're without power and hopefully have the use of backup power for at least 24 hours.
I recently went into the hardware store here but all they have is very bulky and heavy units which will not be good to travel with.
Let me know if you need the exact make/model number of my machine etc, and I will provide this to you.
Please let me know what you would recommend and of course something that isn't going to cost a bundle of money, cause I don't have a lot to spend, thanks!
Power Backup System for my CPAP
Re: Power Backup System for my CPAP
Yes, your machine will make a difference in the answers you need, but the answer will be heavy, and costly, because of the requirements. A XPAP that runs on 12 volts with a passover humidifier are the most power friendly.
Use data to optimize your xPAP treatment!

Re: Power Backup System for my CPAP
This is a tough question - light weight and low cost tend to be mutually exclusive. There are some travel battery packs, primarily designed for laptops etc., that can provide about 8 amp-hours (roughly the airline limit for lithium batteries) for about $120. This is probably enough power for one night, without the humidifier. If you need more power, you have a bit of a problem because light weight will cost. You might consider buying a cheap auto battery down there and leaving it behind - just bring a charger!tappers wrote:Hi Folks,

The other issue is how to power your xpap from the battery, and perhaps how to recharge. You'll have to provide your machine type, the pressure settings, and whether you can get by without the humidifier if you want more advice.
