Hi, I'm new to CPAP. Less than a month in.
I have tried the resmed Airfit P10 for her, Mirage FX, and now hand the AIRFIT N10. Help, it doesn't seem to fix square on my face. The part under my nose presses too hard on my upper lip. I spent two hours trying to adjust it last night. I like the nasal mike type, but I can't seem to adjust it so it sits comfortably on my face. I am a female and they gave me the standard one, would this make a difference? They didn't seem to have the one for females. My pressure is 6.

Re: Airfit N10 uncomfortable
This was one of my main complaints with the N10, it pushes too hard on the upper lip no matter how loose I left it on the bottom. The only difference between the regular and "For Her" model is that it comes with the small size cushion and pink headgear. All of the cushion sizes are still compatible in the standard version.
I would recommend taking a look at the Respironics Dreamwear or the ResMed Swift FX Nano. I didn't have much luck with the Nano myself, but a lot of people seem to like it. Both are very comfortable, lightweight and "soft" because they don't have any hard plastic pieces.
Stick with it, finding the mask that is right for you is often the hardest part of CPAP therapy, but you will find the one for you. Good luck!

Thank you! Resmed has let me try 3 mask in my first month. Would insurance pay for me to get the Respironics Dreamwear? What do people usually do that need to try a different brand, or do you just have to wait until it's time for a replacement? I am so frustrated throng to find a mask I can live with.

I'm new too.
From the I put one PR's "Wisp" I was in love. It is so soft and seals really well to my face. I don't wake up with marks on my face either. I toss and turn a lot as well (like pulling the sheets of the corners of the bed).
Good luck finding what works for you!

Depends on your insurance I suppose. Personally, I just pay out of pocket or from my HSA, from online vendors (like CPAP.com), and then submit to my insurance so they can apply the amount to my deductible.fwesley wrote:Thank you! If you can afford to pay out of pocket, it might be worthwhile to buy online and try out a few. CPAP.com has a 30 day return policy, so you get a full 30 days to try it out and see if it works for you or not. If it doesn't, you get a full refund. Prices are fairly cheap compared to traditional DMEs, you can get the DreamWear for about $90 if you call your order in.

How the return insurance at cpap.com works...some masks have it free of charge and some have a small (or not so small) fee.
You have 30 days to get and use and return the mask to cpap.com and the time starts when they ship it...so you won't have it available for a full 30 days...you have to allow for transit time to you and from you to them.
This is why the return insurance thing doesn't work so great for members outside the US...customs going and coming can seriously impact that 30 day window.
As part of the return insurance cpap.com will email you a prepaid shipping label just in case you want to return the mask.
Read the return insurance policy...so that there are no ugly surprises....we don't get to use the mask for 29 days and then return it on the 30th day because cpap.com won't get it soon enough.
Remember to allow transit time to you and from you back to cpap.com.
If you decide to try the DreamWear mask and not involve your insurance....and want to order from cpap.com remember to call to order and when you see "call for pricing" on any Respironics product...call because it is cheaper than the MSRP seen posted.
I the case of the DreamWear mask the MSRP is $109 but if you call the price is $89.
cpap.com will email you an insurance form so you could file with your insurance but your insurance may or may not allow the expense. It all depends on your insurance but for sure it wouldn't allow it if you are sooner than your 3 month allowance.

Re: Airfit N10 uncomfortable
Thank you for the great information!
I am such a newbie. What I did last night was get some of the new kind of elastic that pony tails are made of now, and tie the hose straight up to the top of the head hear, and it made it much more comfortable. I think I will be able to hand in there with this one until I can go through my insurance in three months or so, then I'll try the DreamWear..It will be the new year, so it will go toward my deductible, but that's okay.
