I have multiple awakenings every night.

Post by king_alvaro » Wed Oct 28, 2015 9:42 pm

I aim to sleep everyday around 8 hours. Out of those eight ours I sleep around 5:30 hours. I suffer from insomnia. I have a hard time falling asleep almost everyday. On top of that I wake up around an average of 8 times a night. I have a resmed monitor and it shows me that I wake up that many times. During the day I feel very sleepy. My AHI is usually less than 2.

I dont know what to do. I have tried taking ambien and I fall asleep quickly but I still wake up often. I also tried seroquel and other herbal sleep medications and I still keep awakening up. When I wake up I usually have the feeling to pee but when I try peeing it is just very little. I limit my fluids and food 3 hours before bedtime. What should I do?

What are your machine settings?
I see you're using an Autoset machine. If you're using a range of pressures, I'd investigate that first. For some people, the changing pressures can disrupt their sleep and leave them feeling unrested.

If you ARE using a range of pressures, I'd recommend switching to straight pressure and see if that helps.

This does not sound like a PAP problem. Have you been checked for urinary tract infection? The symptoms can include urgent need to void (pee) followed by little actual volume. Another common problem with this symptom is prostate trouble. I recommend you see your doctor or urologist prior to doing anything with your machine.

The OP claims to be an RN. I would hope he would recognize these symptoms if they were there...but, who knows

Why haven't you discussed this with an MD? Being in the medical profession, wouldn't that be the logical thing to do/
