ResMed S8 Vantage noise question

Post by orange-man » Wed Jul 05, 2006 10:43 am

I have been using this for a week and with each breath, the machine changes the noise pitch. It's almost like I can hear my breathing coming out of the machine. Does anyone else have this? It is normal for the machine?

You might need to click shut the humidifier door. Beyond that I can't hear mine at all. It's whisper quiet. The air blowing through the hose can make a little noise when you unhook it from the mask but that shuts off if your autostart feature is turned on.

But yes, it should adjust slightly to every breath as opposed to run steadily at one pressure or noise. I hope this helps. My humidifier door was open at first. Then I click it closed now.

Breathing Sounds from Resmed 8 Elite

Post by Excusame » Wed Jul 05, 2006 2:27 pm

I have been using the Resmed 8 Elite for 2 months. The machine DOES echo both inhale and exhale breaths being taken and it is not related to the hunidifer door. However, within a very short period of time, you will block the noise from your mind because you sleep so well and feel so much better that it becomes a non-issue.

Maybe you're right. I can't hear the noise because I'm asleep and before that I can't hear it either. Maybe I'm just used to it now. And when I ask my wife she just says cheerfully that I don't snore anymore so it's MUCHMUCHMUCH quieter and she's just fine with that. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help. I've noticed that some are much more sensative than others and that's to be expected. We all have difference senses

I agree about the 'breathing' aspect of the sound of the Vantage S8. But to me, it is rather quiet and unobtrusive. I wonder if some of what you are hearing is the mask rather than the machine. Other on here have indicated in the past that different masks are more or less noisy than each other. Just a thought,

I have the same machine

The same thing happened to me last night, after 4 weeks with the same machine and masks. It started making loud noises on inhale and exhale, and then started making a high pitched hum. I ended up sleeping without it (and did not get much sleep at all!). This morning I looked at it in the light, and it looked and sounded normal. Gremlins?
