Exhausted!!

Post by woeisme » Tue Jul 21, 2015 9:23 am

I have severe sleep apnea. I have been exhausted all week. When I get up to use the bathroom around 6 or 7 am I cannot fall back asleep. So I only get 6 to 7 hrs with my machine and that is not enough for me. If i take 2 benadryl I fall asleep in 45 min to 1hr & sleep for a few hrs. But I am exhausted because I had the interrupted sleep!! So I am screwed both ways. I also have medication side effect but that's for another day. I am in the house & not enjoying life. Its hard for me to even type this message. I am getting worse & its horrible living this way. Thank goodness I am on an antidepressant or I would jump off a bridge.

We'd like to help you, but need some info. What machine - fullest name & model # you can find - are you using, plus mask type, and what are your pressure settings?

Do you have a copy of your sleep study results?

How long have you been on C/Apap?

What meds are involved (esp. at bedtime)?

A human is a whole. It's rare to be able to successfully treat without understanding the whole situation.

If you really want help, register, fill out the equipment profile and tell everything about your health and lifestyle.

Don't jump yet! I have been struggling with anxiety all my life. After over a year using XPAP i am finally getting relief. For some people curing takes a long time. It does for me!!

There are a lot of things to look at with the kind of insomnia you're describing, but the first question is always: Is your machine effectively treating your sleep apnea? Do you know what your AHI is when you use the machine, and if not, do you know if your machine records this important treatment data? Best way to start is to identify the make and model of your machine for us.

Please know that the first weeks of treatment are not necessarily indicative of how you'll be doing on treatment a few months down the road. Some of us got off to a rough start yet have settled into workable routines. Once you post the info others have mentioned, hopefully you can get some helpful tips. I'm curious if you are in REM at the time you wake up and are having events that your pressure isn't preventing. It's not unusual to be worse in REM. At any rate, sure hope things settle in for you soon and you find yourself getting the sleep you need.
