Hi, I am pretty new to CPAP. I was given nasal pillows to use. Having them in totally helps me sleep, and while I'm sleeping, for the most part, the pillows don't bother me. However, after about three days of use, my nares are all chapped. This usually take around a month to heal, and I have to put lotion on them constantly. I tried using some Lansolin which helped a bit but not much. Does anyone have any ideas? Maybe I just have to keep using the mask until my nose toughens up. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Tim

The first thing that comes to mind is that you may have your mask too tight...

Too tight and perhaps not enough humidity.

My nose hurt a lot also until I tried a larger size of pillows. Maybe try to go up one size and see what happens.

I too suffer from occasional sore nars, but I don't understand how a larger size would help, since I feel that the soreness is caused by the pillows rubbing against my nostrils. So a larger size would take up more space and rub more. What am I missing ? Thanks for any clarification.

A larger size will often sit more snug and still especially once it seals, and as a result will not be able to move around (rub) as much. A smaller size has more room to move around, rub and irritate. Moving to a larger size pillow worked for me.Slats wrote: I feel that the soreness is caused by the pillows rubbing against my nostrils. So a larger size would take up more space and rub more.
