Results from titration study

Post by mzdawn74 » Tue Jun 23, 2015 1:50 pm

Hello,

Below are my results from the titration study. I have an appointment tomorrow with my neurologist to go over the results, and I'm assuming this is when he will prescribe the cpap machine. I was wondering if some of you with more experience can look these results over and give me some input/interpretation, what I might need to mention to my doctor, and any suggestions towards treatment. Just a quick side note: I did not sleep normally this night, I could not fall asleep. I also took the mask off, and lifted it several times because it was uncomfortable.
Thanks in advance for your help!!

Positive Airway Pressure Titration:
CPAP titration performed on room air without supplemental oxygen.
Sleep Architecture
· Latency to sleep onset was 43.0 minutes (normally at 10 to 20 min).
· Latency to REM onset was 289.5 minutes (normally at 90 min).
· The patient slept 157.5 minutes out of 418.0 minutes of recording time
yielding sleep efficiency of 37.7%.
Titration
· Titration Type: CPAP
· Mask Interface: Resmed Air Fit X-Small Pillows
· Beginning pressure: 4 cm of water
· Final Technician Pressure: 8 cm of water
· Preferred Scoring Pressure: 8 cm of water
· AHI At final pressure: 0.0
· Disordered Breathing at final pressure: Residual RERA
· Snoring at final pressure: None
· Oxygen saturation at final pressure was 97%
· Additional PAP Comments: Significant mask air-leak was noted.

Those look like really good numbers. Now to get them to repeat at home in your bed. The sleep latency issues will be a lot better when the wires are gone and you are home.

Remember to push for a full data machine as well as, if you can swing it, an auto cpap so you have some flexibility later.

Welcome to the club!

Thanks! I have a few more questions: What is a residual RERA? And what about the major mask leaks? Is this an issue?

What was your AHI before the titration test? Did you actual get good results at 8cmh20. If so this is very good!

My AHI was 14 during initial study.

Leaks are something we all deal with, and mostly solve. Not to worry since your pressure is relatively low. As Pugsy says, "if the leak doesn't wake you and for a small duration, don't sweat it." Now her nemesis, the Sheriff, wants his leak line to be flat at zero.

Now you need to insist on a machine that also records leaks. Earl

I agree with the leak. i didn't even know what it was initially. The first night i kept opening my mouth and the air leaks through my mouth. Now i no longer do that. However I do find other ways that the air can leak but those are minor.

What did the report say about limb movements, if anything?
