Everyone,
I'm having an issue with my APAP machine when it's in A-Flex mode or at least I think it's a problem. When my APAP is running the air pressure coming out speeds up and then slows down like every 5-8 seconds when my mask isn't on me. Is this normal? When I switch to CPAP mode it doesn't do this. I've been using my APAP for quite some time and I don't feel any better so now I'm freeky out that something is wrong with my machine.
Problem with APAP

it's trying to figure out why you're running it without it attached to your face.phx1hab wrote:Everyone,

it's not a problem.
actually, what's happening is that it's not detecting any breathing and it's trying to figure out if you're having an obstructive apnea, or a central apnea, because it's not smart enough to simply say "oh, silly bugger took the mask off".

You are supposed to have your mask on when using the machine.phx1hab wrote:When my APAP is running the air pressure coming out speeds up and then slows down like every 5-8 seconds when my mask isn't on me.
APAP is variable so with the mask off it is seeking where it should be.
CPAP is a fixed pressure, so it is not variable.
