Resmed S9 odor from airplane
Resmed S9 odor from airplane
I need something to correct an odor from my S9 cpap. When I flew recently the airline required my carry-on to be placed under the plane. Either in the security check or the stowing the machine now has a bad odor that blows out of the machine. I've washed the tubing, mask, etc and replaced the filter but still have the odor in the machine. I don't use the humidifier so I know it's in the machine itself. Does anyone know of something that can be sprayed into the machine or something to eliminate the odor. I have allergies so this is a big problem for me.

Sorry I don't have a solution to your problem but I don't understand how you allowed your medical equipment to be placed in the cargo hold. I fly all the time and on different airlines and never have I been required or even asked to place my cpap case in the cargo hold. I know it is hindsight but next time you fly know your rights. Hope someone come along with a solution.

You should have hand carried your CPAP machine on board. Checking it could have damaged it, or like what happened to you caused some other issues.
However, if he machine was not running while in the cargo hold, I don't see how it could have anything in the machine unless it was immersed in something.
You might contact the Airline for damage to your machine.

did you forget to empty the water tank before packing it up?rmarch123 wrote: Either in the security check or the stowing the machine now has a bad odor that blows out of the machine.
did you take the machine apart and pack it properly?
any odors that would have been in the hold of the plane would have made your clothes, and the case, and everything smell bad too... so unless you smell it on everything, it's unlikely that anything from the plane caused a problem.

Assuming it is a nice day and not too hot...
Set up a table outside in the shade. Run an extension cord. Plug the machine in. Remove the hose. Turn it on and let it run for 30 - 60 minutes.
By then odors should be gone. If not there is something else going on.
If it is raining you can do the same thing indoors but it is much more fun to get outside and play...

make sure the neighbours are not burning leaves.
If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!
