Off Topic: Summer Plans

Post by Linda3032 » Thu Jun 29, 2006 5:49 pm

I posted on another thread what I'm doing this summer, and I thought it would be fun for the "forum family" to post about their summer plans. Here are mine:

We are leaving August 3rd for a 6 week RV trip. From Arkansas we're driving across Oklahoma, New Mexico, and visiting the Grand Canyon in Arizona. We'll be going up through California - along the northern Calif coastline and up into Oregon. We're going to spend 3 nights in Brookings along the rugged Oregon coastline and then go over to Grants Pass for a family reunion. We're looking forward to "dirt bagging" the Rogue River. Then going through parts of Washington and Idaho and then towards Montana and Wyoming. Yes, hitting Yellowstone and hope we don't see too many wild critters - at least at our campsite.

We'll be visiting lots of family and friends along the way. It's been 7 years since we took the trip - which is a beautiful one. So, we figured we'd better do it again before we get too old (literally).

We are pulling a "Mary Tyler Moore" when it comes to ignoring the expense. (Not sure many of you will get that old TV show reference). Anyway, we are just going to ignore the gas prices and do it.

So, ya. I'll be here a while longer. Then I'm off to have some fun.

What are your plans?

PS: Yes, "Dude" who is sharing the picture with me, will be going too. I think he is the most traveled dog in the USA.

Good thread for a change.

I am headed to Belize Saturday AM for a week.

Why?

I read it was a beautifule place so I am going.
Wife came down with a big case of GOUT but feeling better.

Slow season and I have no reservations. I hate planned tours.
Wish moi well.

(goodness I'll be glad when summer break is over and children can't surf the Internet at will)

Linda, that sounds like an awesome trip! We are planning a long weekend of golfing in Scottsdale for our birthdays next month. And a few random days off here and there to do the same at home.

Belize sounds like fun, too! I love that area. Great for water lovers!

I'll be staying home baby-sitting dogs while their owners take off on those great vacations.

But hey, that suits me fine. For forty years I traveled almost every weekend to horse shows and dog shows - saw a lot of the U.S. and some other countries as well. Getting to stay home is like a vacation to me!

Linda, your trip does sound like a ton of fun. You will be very close to where I lived in AZ. We used to go to the Grand Canyon once a month. If you get to Idaho and need a place to plug in you are welcome here.

We are leaving this weekend for a camping trip in the R.V. Then we are going to McCall, Idaho on the 23rd. We leave for 4 days of boating on the Spokane river on the 29th and in August we will be in Portland for 5 days. Somewhere in there I would like to get a couple of river rafting trips in. Meanwhile our only child (14 on the 10th) just got back from 3 weeks in Oklahoma with his grandparents and will be spending 5 weeks, beginning the 6th of July, in California.

I care, I do not care if you do not give a rats ass.
I do not give a rats ass if you give a rats ass or not.

Have a day
