Recommendations welcomed on Gel Masks

Post by JohnMudie » Thu May 14, 2015 3:30 pm

Even after 8 years of CPAP treatment, I am still having difficulty giving myself good treatment. I tend to wake up after an hour or two and then go back to sleep without putting the mask back on again. I find the mask uncomfortable.

Today I saw a new doctor who suggested I try a gel mask. Anyone have any recommendations.

You should have asked your Doc what gel mask was he/she talking about b/c there hundreds of masks with some gel in them.

No, I have not tried a pure blue gel mask like this one:

Maybe the Doc meant the gel mask which is to be boiled and molded as described here:

The gel technology allows for a greater variety in facial features such as facial hair. As an added benefit, the ComfortGel cushion can be boiled and molded for a custom fit. The boiling process softens the cushion and allows the gel to form around your unique face. For more information on the boiling process, click on the Customizing the ComfortGel Cushion Instructions:

Avi...If you haven't tried it, how can you recommend it?

the same way he recommends anything, like a thousand monkeys hammering away at typewriters, attempting to produce the works of shakespeare.

What about the sleep weaver elan cloth mask that I use? I find it very comfortable.
By the way, once I switched to it, I pretty much completely eliminated my problem with prematurely removing my mask. Only did it once after doing it several times with previous masks.

I tried two or three sleep weavers in the past but found their leak rate seemed to be too high. I didn't get any treatment last night (couldnt get to sleep with the mask on) .

I will try a sleep weaver again tonight.

Thanks for the suggestion
John

I hope it works for you and I am sorry to hear you have had previous problems with leaks. As one who could never get the them under control with various full face masks no matter what I did, I have had zero problems with this mask in controlling the leaks. I feel very fortunate.
