Hi
I have been using CPAP for 2 years and have had limited success and I am now off work. I received results from new sleep study and the results show central sleep apnea is main concern. My AHI is 22 with cpap with 19 being a result of central sleep apnea.
Has anyone had better success on Bipap or servo ventilation machines?
Im feeling pretty frustrated (and tired).
Thanks

I was diagnosed with CSA in Feb and start my therapy on an Auto Servo Ventilator (ASV) tomorrow. From my research this is the standard for treatment of CSA and I read good success stories as well as stories of difficulty. I wish you luck in your journey for treatment of CSA

BiPAP won't work; it needs to be ASV. I just hope that your insurance company doesn't insist that you fail BiPAP before letting you get an ASV machine. With that many centrals, your doctor should be able to argue with them.

Welcome, rance. Please fill in the equipment on your profile so we can help you better. In particular, we need to know what machine you have.
This link will help you figure out which machine you have.
Actually, bilevel/BiPAP/VPAP machines do help some people. Sometimes you can find a good compromise between central and obstructive even with a manual or auto CPAP machine. The "real" cure for centrals is an ASV machine. A T or S/T mode bilevel machine is a somewhat less powerful solution. Don't be too quick to go for an ASV, they can be hard to live with at first, or they can be a pure joy.
