New Simplus mask is loud.

Post by Noctuary » Tue Apr 14, 2015 10:03 am

I got my new supplies; mask, pillows, hose, filters. Tried my new mask Sunday night but it was very loud, and it wasn't the vents. I think its coming from the swivel part, though I can't feel any air blowing there. I had to go outside to the recyling bin and dig out my old mask. Are some masks like this or did I get gyped? Still, even with my old mask I woke up feeling really bad, as I do most days. Strangely, when my AHI is lower, I feel worse. Today it was 0.5, but then I only slept five hours. I do have a new prescription for Provigil; hopefully that will help, eventually.

I got a new Simplus mask in the DME's office a couple weeks ago and we both heard it. He gave me different one and it was quiet. He was sending the first one back as defective. Maybe they had a bad batch. I just use a FF mask occasionally.

Very loud? I'd say its pretty quiet. Somewhat louder than the Quattro but not terrible. Maybe something is leaking somewhere?

What mask were you previously using that was so quiet?

Possible you got a bad one. I've been using the simplus since it came out. I purchased a second mask about 6 months after the first. Both are about the same; pretty quiet. The Resmed Airfit F10 was substantially louder at the vent. Make sure the gray hose to mask adapter is fully seated in the hose and clicks/seats onto the mask.

Thank you all. I'll just return it and get a new one, or simply let it go and just keep using the old one.
