Since it's on eBay... do I need a prescription to buy one? After all it is a medical device. LOL!

Nice find!

Sincerely,

I have one of those and they work great to keep from yanking the machine around as I toss and turn.

I picked up mine from one of the standard on-line CPAP suppliers, like CPAP.com or similar.

I think it was about $6 or so. I suppose you could make one, but at that price its easier to buy it.

Clip

I have 2 clips just like that except they are white and they came with my hoses, I think. I use them just this way. Don't they come with the hoses?

Hawthorne,
I don't think I've ever gotten any clip like that with a hose. The hoses I get come in a plastic bag with a shipping invoice. That's it. You must have a nicer DME than I do.

Wading,
I'll write you a script. Will that work???

Snork,
Leave it to you to already have it already! I had never seen it before on any site, so I probably never checked the right category for where it would be listed; hence, the link to eBay.

That clip (the clear plastic) is just a id badge holder that is very very cheap hooked to a piece of velcro or other elastic band.

I recognize the clip well from many years at one particular business and again from a badge from another job. Although it is a great idea. $6?? Way too much.

One could buy a box of these badge clips and use a pony tail holder or other strap with velcro very very easily. I think I will.

You want the snap to be metal on the badge holder. Plastic ones don't hold. Even thought the metal snaps are pretty good, we used to take a hammer and after snapping it closed, and hit the snap, permantely setting the snap (smashing it together) so the badge couldn't unsnap and leave our id badge on the ground.

Snoregirl,

Now you have probably given someone else on this site, one of the many creative types there are here, a new money-making idea. Sounds like something you could perhaps pick up in Staples or Office Max and make yourself pretty easily.

Still, there are plenty of busy folks out there who don't have the time or inclination to be a DIY-er and would rather just spent a couple of dollars and buy something already made. I guess it's just a matter of who you are and your lifestyle.

I received a similar clip with my Respironics Comfort Curve mask. It was attached to the hose when it arrived -- even if it was wrapped only in a plastic bag with an invoice included! I've found it very helpful since I'm a restless sleeper and am constantly afraid of dragging the CPAP off the nightstand and onto the floor.

I don't think getting one with your mask is a matter of choice or DME. It appeared to be standard issue with this particular mask, perhaps because the hose is a bit shorter than usual.

Kurtchan,

The CC is probably one of the only masks I don't own or haven't tried. None of my others have ever come with a clip such as this, nor did any hose I've ever gotten.

Hey, this is a great idea!

I'm wondering if I put some sort of cloth strip up on the wall or something to attach it to, if I could replace my makeshift velcro hoseholder. I just don't have the space for some of the other contraptions that others have come up with, so I just used adhesive velcro strips on the wall. It fell last night probably as a result of the extreme heat....

Birdie,

If you don't mind the tiny holes, the velcro could easily be stapled to the wall with a staple gun -- not a desk stapler. If the velcro is white (as I'm assuming the wall is) it will hardly show at all and then give you plently of hold-ability when you hook up your hose at night.

An amusing thought: D'you think we could get Martha Stewart to do a CPAP accessory episode on her show? Laura Ashley hose covers? Hand-knit mask travel bags? My mind is racing with possibilities!

Sorry if I offended anyone with my comment on price for this item. I just wanted to let people know what it really was if they hadn't figured it out and that if they wanted to make their own it looked pretty easy and the parts shouldn't be that hard to find.

Yes I would also guess an office supply store (though I don't know as mine were all company issued), and if the office supply store didn't have it I would bet that they could tell you where to buy it.

The first time I saw this id badge clip was in 1981, and I assume it has been around even longer than that. I was issued a new one (from a different place in 2005).

By all means if you like it and want to spend $6 for it to be all ready to use, go for it. Looks like a great use of the clip to me.

Actually I had vague thoughts of hooking my hose to my sheets but hadn't come up with using this clip even though I knew that they were available. Shame on me, I wonder if there is a patient here?

I find that the gravity drag on my hose gives my swift trouble sealing. I usuallly coil it up and put the cover over it which keeps it from pulling (and helps with rainout) but with the warmer weather coming the clip would be nice for when I toss the covers off in the night.

Martha Stewart?? Who needs Martha!!??

Here's what I'm thinking... At some point, DH and I will both be hoseheads. I think if I get some nice fabric to hang above our bed, we can have a decorative and adjustable hose holder.

See, who needs Martha!!??

I used a pony tail scrunchie and a safety pin (pinned to my mattress) to hold my hose when it was in bed with me. That was when I used the Nasalaire and had the hose under the covers with me. Now that I have the Aura, I don't need it. Yea...

But I still carry an extra one in my cpap bag in case I ever need something like that at a motel.
