Inflate Cushion?

Post by Sheriff Buford » Fri Apr 03, 2015 4:50 am

I have finally given the Resmed F10 a chance and have been wearing the mask for a while. From the pages "Taming the Quattro", do you folks inflate the cushion before putting the mask on? I put the mask on then crank up the machine.

Like K_ogre said, I also just put the mask on and let the machine start up, as it starts to blow in the mask I exhale to make it easier to get used to the air coming in. Then if I need to reseat the cushion on my face I do so. Just seems easier that way and I don't have the high pressure air slapping me all at once.. lol..(my original pressure was set at 17cm !)

Sheriff ....I use the Quattro FF....I put on the mask before I turn on the machine. Once the machine gets to max pressure I very slightly pull the mask away from my face to allow the air to inflate the seal.

With my UMFF (similar cushion to the Quattro) I've always tried to get my mask situated before starting the machine. Then, when the machine starts up, if I've got it adjusted to the right tension, the air pressure lifts it up (inflating the cushions). I don't try to readjust it (much) after the machine starts up or else the cushion may get out of position and it's going to leak. There's no possible way I could get it to seal by starting the machine and then putting the mask on.
So, if I don't get any leaks when I start my machine, I'm usually "good to go", but if things aren't situated right off the bat, I shut the machine off and start over until they are situated. After this long, I've come to know what feels good at the start and what doesn't. And, even with my current four-year-old cushion, it still seals pretty good.

Put the mask on first but loosely (during fitting). Turn on the machine and adjust just enough to stop any leaks.
