New machine question/suggestions

Post by minniesc » Tue Mar 24, 2015 2:18 pm

I have my annual exam coming up next month. After my original sleep study I have never been brought back for another one, and it will be four years next month since I started wearing my cpap. I use the basic resumed with humidifier, and other than some leaks when my mask gets old, I think I do o.k. with it. However, I do wake several times in the night and I am not sure if it is due to apnea or something else. What would you recommend I look into if getting a new machine? My insurance says I am up for one and that I do not have to take the basic model, but instead they will cover what the dr. recommends. I am going to push for another sleep study, and then a better machine. Mask wise I am a mouth breather so can't go with a nasal mask. Suggestions?

The latest Resmed cpap/apap machines are called AirSense 10 models.

AirSense 10 CPAP....pretty much equal to your S9 Escape except it does offer AHI data but nothing else...no leak data...no event category breakdown...no graphs to know when the events that make up the AHI occurred...while not technically a brick...pretty close to it.

AirSense 10 Elite...full efficacy data machine and delivers a fixed cpap mode pressure like your Escape does.

AirSense 10 AutoSet...full efficacy data machine with 2 modes of operation...cpap mode and apap mode...so fixed or auto adjusting pressure modes.

AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her....full efficacy data machines but 3 modes of operation...cpap and apap mode like the regular Autoset but also had a 3rd apap mode especially for women with a special algorithm. This is the machine that I would want if I were looking at these machines and I would want it even if I was a man because that 3rd special algorithm might possibly suit some men...better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it sort of thing.
