After almost two months, the DME finally forked over a machine and a mask (good thing, because the mask I'd bought on my own leaked and farted like crazy).
The first few nights were a nightmare. The hose was heavier, I was trying a different mask with no forehead strap and it ended up poking me in the eye when I slept on my side, humidity was too high, heat too much, etc. Woke up feeling like several trucks had hit me. I even took one night off. Almost came on here to whine and complain.
Last night was the first night with the same kind of mask I had during my titration (fit really well), lowered humidity and heat -- and slept for ELEVEN HOURS straight.
I woke up groggy and with a sore nose, but functional. Not even six hours later, I was seriously sleepy again. I'm fighting to stay awake now and about to go to bed. BUT --
In the opinions of those on here who've "been there done that," is this unusual, or normal for new users? I'm half wondering if the "sleepy" I felt later was from sleeping "too much" but it doesn't feel like that kind of sleepy. It's like dizzy sleepy. I feel like I slept 4 hours and not 11.
Not using Sleepyhead software yet (just downloaded it) but using the "MyAir online dashboard" that comes with machine and reported no leaks, good sleep stats, etc.
Sleeping TOO much at first?

Re: Sleeping TOO much at first?
I don't know if there's actually a "normal". We're all different and with varying degrees of and ways Sleep Apnea has affected us. For many of us, it's "common" to find that we can sleep less and feel more refreshed. However, your experience is not uncommon and gradually building up the number of hours of sleep is also important. Lots of people wake up in the middle of the night after about 4 hours of sleep and can't go back to sleep because they're wide awake at that point. So, that's why I mention building up the numbers of hours of sleep. At some point, your body may LOVE this new way of sleeping and you can't get enough.
