Broken humidifier PR System One 50 series
Broken humidifier PR System One 50 series
Hi, my PR System One Humidifier quit using water some time ago. I contacted my home medical equipment supplier and will be getting a new machine, since my old system is almost five years old. As for the old system, can I just replace the humidifier or could the problem be in the main unit? If I could I would have a complete backup machine.

it could be in the main unit there was thread about that a while ago

I have also seen a problem with the small pin connectors between the cpap and the humidifier, one of the pins was pushed back into the plastic connector

If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

You might ask your home medical supply people if they have a spare/old humidifier that you could just try for a night to rule out where the problem might be. If another humidifier also won't heat up and use water then it very likely the problem is in the blower unit connections...and if it does heat up and use water then you know the problem is with your old humidifier.
I know someone with a 50 series machine and they also thought it was the humidifier that died so they bought another humidifier and it wouldn't work either so it was determined that the problem was in the main blower unit (like palerider pointed to) and once it was repaired both humidifiers worked....so he has a spare humidifier.
You can find 50 series humidifiers at secondwindcpap.com that are gently used (but with brand new water chambers) for around $70 I think it is....or maybe your supplier would give you a really good deal on one should it be determined it was indeed the humidifier that had died.

It appears you don't need an Rx at secondwind if you buy just a used humidifier unit. Yes, the prices are about $70 and they seem to have some older units too which is nice for folks who like their older machines.Pugsy wrote: You can find 50 series humidifiers at secondwindcpap.com that are gently used (but with brand new water chambers) for around $70 I think it is....or maybe your supplier would give you a really good deal on one should it be determined it was indeed the humidifier that had died.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
Re: Broken humidifier PR System One 50 series
Correct. No RX required for the humidifier from Secondwind. I bought one a while back from them to go with a 50 series bipap that I found on craigslist that the prior user wasn't using a humidifier at all.Sir NoddinOff wrote:It appears you don't need an Rx at secondwind if you buy just a used humidifier unit.

Thanks to all for your comments, I guess my best bet is to get hold of another humidifier and try it. Maybe I can return it if it does not solve the problem.
Re: Broken humidifier PR System One 50 series
I have a humidifier for a 50 series. system one. PM if you are interested.
Re: Broken humidifier PR System One 50 series
Crapria sent me a brand new humidifier (I had a small co-pay) but it STILL doesn't work. There's a known issue with the machine that causes the humidifiers not to work, but I don't see that PR is doing anything about it.
