OT - Wow! My cat loves...

Post by Julie » Fri Mar 20, 2015 6:53 pm

Hi, just discovered that my cat LOVES Kale (tho' of course with little bits of peanut oil, mild garlic sauce, soy + tomato .

And it's great, because up here in Snowsville he hasn't been able to eat grass (don't like that rye grass from the store), or anything green besides my house plants... and now he can get all the vitamins, etc. all the time... think I'll mention it to the vet.

Garlic and onions can be toxic to cats and dogs, especially in quantity.
Wheat grass from the produce department is a favorite with our cat.
We had a cat that loved canned green beans.

Thanks Froggy - I know about onions, and the iiteral drops of VH garlic sauce probably won't hurt... but thank you for reminding me - I will look again... though think I should mention that he's been having tiny bites of my turkey mini meatballs almost every night that have been doused with the above stuff (over broccoli, etc.) for years.

My cat loves olives... She bats them around the house and plays with then eats them...

Mine too! The green ones. They bat them around like they're filled with catnip. They lick them but don't eat them.

That's what I thought but then they say we will have snow Monday. I'm still putting the dirt in my new container buckets tomorrow. I'll wait to till the main gardens till the soils warm up a bit.

Good for you - we're getting another blizzard tomorrow night/Sunday and it's getting very, very OLD never mind cold!

I looked up the garlic thing btw, and if given enough it could make him anemic, but the amts he gets are really, really teeny. Like tadpoles.

Oops!

Years ago I had a chihuahua that got hold of a solid milk chocolate Easter bunny and licked the ears right off of it. I thought she was going to die as she was just 4 or 5 pounds then. She survived, thank God, and lived many years after that. We had to hide sweets from her though!

Our Scottie ate chocolate (early 60's) and did end up going to doggy heaven... but she was old at the time and tho' we'd been warned about chocolate, someone forgot and left a box open on the table.

Just an FYI, small critters like guinea pigs, hamsters etc. should never have grapes or raisins. It can kill them. Shouldn't eat any table food either as they need raw veggies though before I knew that I have a GP that loved toast and (shudder) bacon. She died at age 7. Definitely old age for a GP. The 2 we have now only eat veggies along with their pellets. Organic spring mix lettuce, raw sweet corn, baby carrots, celery, baby sweet peppers, peaches, pears, apples, snap peas...Lol the cashier at the grocery store thinks I'm a health nut. If she only knew.

My cat is ALWAYS chewing grass out side - why do they actually do this? I thought it was maybe to help with digestion?

I have a large asparagus fern in the house that the cat nibbles from.

He is a weird cat with a sweet tooth for fruit too. He adores the cooked blueberries from my muffins.

It will be another 2 months before things start to get green outside here. It is snowing right now.
