My nose is starting to feel bruised, and looks very sore, finding it very hard to fit mask, it either leaks air into eyes + noisey or doesnt but hurts and uncomfy.
any advice welcome, i am due back at my clinic on thursday ( got machine last thursday) but it seems an eternity away.
My pressure is set 4 for first 20 mins then goes upto 10

Re: Nose Bridge Damage
Perhaps fix yourself a homemade mask liner out of an old T shirt???? At least maybe it will ward off further damage to your skin.
No mask should cause damage to the skin and if it does then something is wrong somewhere...either fit, size or simply maybe not the right mask for your face.

NO mask should "hurt" you!!!OldBaldDave wrote:My nose is starting to feel bruised, and looks very sore, finding it very hard to fit mask, it either leaks air into eyes + noisey or doesnt but hurts and uncomfy.

The three possibilities are:
Wrong adjustments,
Wrong size mask, or
Wrong mask.

Re: Nose Bridge Damage
When I first started CPAP my nose bridge was bruised a lot, my DME suggested putting KY jelly on the bruise to protect it. Since it is water soluble it will not affect the mask cushion and will give some protection to the sore. I would apply it on the sore each night until the sore is healed.OldBaldDave wrote:My nose is starting to feel bruised, and looks very sore, finding it very hard to fit mask, it either leaks air into eyes + noisey or doesnt but hurts and uncomfy.

Re: Nose Bridge Damage
I started my CPAP 10 years ago when there wasn't near the selection of masks available. I started with a nasal mask and used it for about 2 years. I NEVER got to the point that I didn't have a bruise or sore on the bridge of my nose. It wasn't until I switched to nasal pillows that I could CPAP without a sore.
Re: Nose Bridge Damage
Apria is my DME. Zero assistance with any questions.
Thanks to the kind folks on this list I discovered my head gear was too small. It was killing the bridge of my nose, leaving a big dent. The Wisp is either Medium or Large head gear.... I had large. Turns out there is a extra large piece for the back section. Ordered it, no more sore bridge.
Once I figured out how to use SleepyHead I learned what to look for to avoid air leaks. So pretty happy with the CPAP. Trick is to let the nose mask "float". That was the hardest part was learning just enough tension to float on my nose. Oddly enough learned to sleep with my mouth closed.

Been there done that! So sad. Never again for me BUT my issue was on the local level not through corporate although corporate did not help either with my complaint. No more Apria!TexasTom wrote:Apria is my DME. Zero assistance with any questions.....
