Sore Nares for how long??

Post by mrammell » Sun Jun 25, 2006 3:02 pm

For those of you who like nasal pillows, etc. QUESTION?? I have the swift and the Comfortlight2, my nares (is that a fancy word for nostril?) are sensitive and sore, no matter the size of the pillow, no matter if I adjust the straps loose, etc. And I also use a gel. How long does it take to "toughen up" the things?

Can't tell you exactly, usually a few days will take care of it.

I have been successful in rubbing a little "Oral Jell" on my nose and up my nares, whenever my nose gets sore, and off to sleep I go. Try it, you might like it.

Must be one heck of a nasal experience if this is what you mean by "Oral Jell":

Kamagra Oral Jelly
is a prescription medication that treats the physical problem of erectile dysfunction by increasing blood flow where you need it. It's not an aphrodisiac or a hormone. This medication works for most men whether their erectile dysfunction is mild or severe and Kamagra is available in different 100mg doses. Like many medications, your healthcare provider may have to adjust your initial dose if it doesn't produce the desired results or you are bothered by side effects.

Nares

Post by GoofyUT » Sun Jun 25, 2006 3:32 pm

The time it takes for the nares to stop hurting varies dramatically from person to person. For me, they were pretty sore when I first tried the Swift, and it took 3-4 days, using AyrGel to resolve. Since then, i've had NO problem with irritation of my nares (BTW, "nares" refers to the external orifice for the nostril).

Others have sore nares as a chronic problem and have to switch off between masks/interfaces to give their nares a break.

Others are on the endless quest for the perfect interface that gives a great seal, is comfortable and easy to use, and doesn't cause sores on your nares or anywhere else on your face. And, gives you great "numbers" to boot! Legend has it that one such perfect interface was actually spotted in Central Europe last year, but it escaped at the last moment, and hasn't been seen since, though there are agencies that are hot on its trail. I fortunately, have bagged mine with the Resmed Mirage Swift.

Hope this helps!

Chuck

I loved the "airiness" of the nasal pillows but was never able to get over sore nares. It took a month of torture before I switched to the Activa mask and I've never looked back.

Sorry to sound negative but what I've learned from this group is that there is no "silver bullet" when it comes to masks. Everyone is different.

People don’t care what you know until they know that you care.

I must be one of the lucky ones that never have any nare problems with my Swift.

Initially I had nare issues on one side using the Medium size. At the suggestion of a poster here I tried the Large ones and now not only does it seal in a superior fashion (in spite of the fact the DME said I was a medium) but it rarely every loses air. The only rub is when I go to sleep on my left side I will generally locate the side of the air chamber and adjust the pillow to support it just right. This way there is no leaks and it is comfortable. I like to switch off between this and my Activa however. The Activa is without a question superior for a side sleeping situation. Nevertheless I like having BOTH to switch off with depending on how my sinuses feel one day to the next. They are actually VERY complementary to have together.........I don't feel ONE mask does all....you need a switch hitter for certain days.

I'm another fortunate one (and I didn't even realize it at the time).

I "sized" myself and bought my first interface online 3 years ago. I bought the Nasalaire and never had a problem with sore nares. Who woulda thunk it? (But my husband always tells me that I'm a tough old bird).

In January, I switched to the Aura with no problems. The Aura pillows are so soft -- it truly amazes me that more hoseheads don't use them.

Roadwarrior - did you every try the Aura? It's great for side and stomach sleepers.

I have very limited experience...but the comfortlite 2 that I used in the SStudy gave me red irritated spots under my nose and my Swift (used for 3 nights now!) have given me zero irritation anywhere. So far...so good! Good luck in your quest!
