Eson nasal mask runs warm - suggest alternative?

Post by wildboar » Wed Feb 18, 2015 1:50 pm

Got the Eson yesterday and and it worked awesome. Didn't even need a chinstrap. All this time I've thought I was a mouth breather but from reading threads on the forum I learned that apnea events actually trigger you to open your mouth at night. Worked better than any of the full face masks I've tried over the last 2 years.

However, during the night I noticed it got pretty warm. Turned my S9 humidifier down from 74 degrees to 69 and that seemed to be ok. Bedroom temp is around 62 this time of year. I am afraid the mask will be too warm during the summer months when the bedroom will be in the 70's.

What other nasal masks are going to give a comparable fit but run cooler? The Eson large fit so well I didn't even have to put any effort into the straps to make it all work.

Sound like you have found a winner ! I would not look a gift horse in the mask
If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

Get the Clinicians manual here : http://apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-press ... tup-manual

Haha I get what you're saying. Do all nasal masks run warmer like that due to the smaller volume inside the mask compared to a full face, or is it due more to the Eson's venting system? I've never had a chance to try anything else. People speak highly of the Swift FX Nano, does it suffer from the heat?

Just my two cents - I LOVE the Eson, but don't like the Nano. It didn't leak and I could sleep on my side, but within a few hours I woke up because the cushion was painfully cutting into the area between my nose and upper lip. Other people have this issue as well.

Plenty of people love it, so you may too. I would just recommend return insurance if you decide to try it.

Try knocking the humidity down more in the summer. When I started CPAP in Sept I found the mask too hot and stuffy, solved by lowering the humidity. I have the humidity turned back up for the winter and don't notice any undo warmth at all.
