The heated hose reduces the likelihood of rain-out - especially if you like a lot of humidity in your cpap flow or if you keep your bedroom very cool.

I like a lot of humidity AND a cool bedroom - I had a lot of trouble with rain-out before getting the heated hose.

By default it will set the humidity to 80% and an 80 degree air temp. You can further change the air temperature from the start option menu. You also have the option to change this mode to manual and select a humidity setting as well.

That's pretty cool. Do I wash it the same way as the regular tube? When I wash the regular tube and leave it to dry, after weeks it still didn't dry!

Why does it need to dry? As soon as you hook it up it immediately gets damp again. You are wasting your time washing and drying your hose.

You'll find a broad range of approaches to cleaning your equipment. Some, like me, hardly ever clean anything other than replacing the air filter every month or two. Some clean things at least as often as the manual says to. As long as the dampness in the hose is dampness and not big drops/pools of water, I don't think you need to worry about it much - especially with a heated hose. On the rare occasions when I do clean the hose, I sometimes swing it over my head like a lasso for a few seconds (be careful where you hold it - the fittings can easily break off the hose).

If I use an unheated hose when the house is cold, my nose gets cold, too.
The heated hose keeps my nose from getting that chill, not really warm, but not cold either.
