Data Capable?
I just found out that I should be getting a Philips Respironics PR System One REMstar BiPAP Pro with Heated Humidifier Model number DS650HS in about 2 weeks.
Well I was told "DS650". I wasn't told about the HS. I don't know what the HS is.
All I need to know -- if anyone else uses this PR BIpap machine --- is if it is fully data capable so I'd be able to use that SleepWeaver thing???? And if I can use the SleepWeaver, HOW would I use this?
Do I need to have a smart phone and have an app or can I get SleepWeaver off my old fashioned laptop?

Yes, the DS650HS is fully data capable and will work with SleepyHead software:

The DS560 is a very nice data capable auto machine. Here is a link to it. https://www.cpap.com/productpage/pr-sys ... chine.html

She is getting a DS650, which is a fixed BiPAP, but data capable. You gave her the link for a DS560, an Auto CPAP.OkyDoky wrote:The DS560 is a very nice data capable auto machine. Here is a link to it. https://www.cpap.com/productpage/pr-sys ... chine.html

Re: Data Capable?
The DS 650HS indicates a fixed BiPAP machine with heated humidifier. Since 2012, the updated model is the DS660HS that is the same, but also accommodates a heated tube option. The prescription indicates a need for bilevel therapy. The next model up is a DS760HS which is an Auto BiPAP that adjustst the EPAP/IPAP pressures. all collect data.footballgirl13 wrote:I just found out that I should be getting a Philips Respironics PR System One REMstar BiPAP Pro with Heated Humidifier Model number DS650HS in about 2 weeks.

I would ask to get the DS660 so that you have the option for a the heated hose, or just get the DS660TC which has that option. A heated hose is not more expensive on the unit, but costs about $75 to add later. The DS650 is at least 3 years old and carryover inventory. Don't accept it.

Re: Data Capable?
Is the auto Auto CPAP worse than the "fixed" BiPap? I only told LIfeCare Solutions that I needed a BiPap machine since the sleep technician titrated me to 15/11 and told me that it would be better for me to use a Bilevel machine since 15 may be hard to breathe out. Is "fixed" mean that once it reaches 15/11, it will not "auto set" according to my breathing patterns? Is it common for someone in the night to go from a pressure setting from 15 to 12 for them to need an "auto" pap?adipasqu wrote:She is getting a DS650, which is a fixed BiPAP, but data capable. Re: Data Capable?
I see. Well, I can ask for the 660, but I have Medi--cal and what Medi--cal approves is what I get. I can not afford to dish out 75 bucks. Not until I find at least a part-time job. Once I get that I'll be able to purchase (and try) the Naucne cpap mask from PR. I'm hoping nasal pillows do better for me but I'm not sure how they will work with a pressure of 15. Kinda high I'm told with nasal pillow use.Sleeprider wrote:The DS 650HS indicates a fixed BiPAP machine with heated humidifier. I'm on bipap with 15/11 pressure and I have no problems with my P10 pillows. Others here with higher pressures are using them. You just have to try to see what works for you. Good luck with them.

Re: Data Capable?
There are forum members successfully using a nasal pillow mask with pressures in excess of 20 cm.
I routinely see 22 cm and have no issues with keeping a seal. Contrary to what DMEs might say...nasal pillows can be used quite successfully at higher pressures. That's an old wives tale often told by DMEs who are just repeating what someone said to them in the past and have no real life experience.

Okay I found out that the PR DS 660HS started production in 2010!!!! I just emailed my DME which is LifeCare Solutions and I just asked them for clarification on what model number they ordered for me. I'm going to ask for a DS660. I hope they can provide that.footballgirl13 wrote:Sleeprider wrote:footballgirl13 wrote:

Yes. Life experience counts doesn't it? Thank you for providing me this information. I'm going to see if I can tolerate the WISP for another 6 months. If not I'm moving to nasal pillows.

Re: Data Capable?
ah, I see the typo I made. When I called PR I asked what year my P150 (CPAP) was made and the lady was kinda rude to me. She didn't look on her computer or anything and just said "Go to your DME provider". I told her "I can't do that. I used to have Homemedic in 2011, I don't use them now. All they will tell me is what year they GAVE IT To ME". I know what year I got it. I want to know when it was made". The lady then hung up on me.palerider wrote:the 650 came out in 2010 as part of the original system one lineup.footballgirl13 wrote: Okay I found out that the PR DS 660HS started production in 2010!!!! I called back and got a nice gentleman and since I got no where with asking about the P150 - I asked about the 650. He was very up front with me. He didn't hang up the phone either. I guess some women are just like that because I never had any male hang up on me.

Re: Data Capable?
For future reference (and when you get your new machine you can check) on the 50 and 60 series there is a little sticker on the bottom of the blower unit that has the 3 digit model number...and on that same model number sticker there is an 8 digit number which is code for manufacture data in year/month/date format
Example 20110202 would be Feb 2, 2011
When Respironics rolls out a new model line they don't do it in one immediate release of all models. They do it a bit more slowly and in stages.
The 60 Series machine were initially released in March 2012 and the first ones were the 560 machines I think it was. Followed rather quickly by the 260 and 460.
The 60 series Bipap (660 & 760) devices weren't released in later on in the summer of 2012 and the big boy 960 was released even later.
The 50 series machines were released initially in late 2009 and again it was the 550 that was first followed by the bulk of the others in early 2010. I don't know when the 50 series BiPaps were released but I suspect probably spring of 2010.
If a DME is dispensing a 50 series machine now...it either has been sitting on the shelf for a very long time or it was previously used and returned for some reason. There is a way to reset the therapy hours on these older used machines for them to appear brand new zero hour machines but if a person knows where to look there is a machine hour setting that can't be reset except at the factory level. It's available in the clinical setup info area.
I don't think a DME would let a BiPap sit on the shelf for this length of time and never be used. My bet is on a used 50 series machine if one gets dispensed now.
A 50 series machine would be way past warranty expiration...new or used.
