New Machine

Post by Amers605 » Wed Feb 04, 2015 5:04 pm

Hi
I just received my new CPAP machine. Yay!
My previous machines were "bricks."
My new machine is a ResMed AirSense 10 CPAP.
I changed my equipment profile, but I do not know what to select fir the humidifier and software.
I am so excited about this new machine.
How long should I use the machine before trying to look at the data?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

If you picked the right machine in your equipment profile.....if it is indeed the Airsense CPAP model then you have yet another "Brick"

If on the other hand you actually have the Elite, or AutoSet, or Autoset For Her model then you have a data capable model.

You don't have to pick a humidifier in your equipment profie because all the AirSense models have the built in humidifier, it's part of the machine, not an add on accessory.

I hope you have one of the data capable models, I just hate being the bearer of bad news!

I know it has data! The tech said it records leaks, AHI, it even has auto on.

I am about to quite coming to this site. I get the worst responses. It seems for some reason no one wants to help me. Good grief!

The AirSense 10 CPAP isn't a total brick but it isn't full data machine with the graphs and detail the other AirSense machine provide.

From the product page..
Therapy Data

The AirSense™ 10 CPAP provides basic therapy data on the LCD Display such as AHI, nightly usage hours, and total usage hours.

Which means generic AHI with no event category breakdown...no leak data, which is a big deal to me because if leaks aren't well managed then the AHI data is useless....nothing else useful.

Anyway you can swap it out for the AirSense 10 Elite or above?

If you think it has AHI and leak data...then it isn't the "CPAP" model.
Use the software available to make sure you have what you think you have.
Maybe you chose the wrong machine....does it say Elite or AutoSet anywhere on the machine?

Oh, disregard the software choices in the equipment menu...those are mainly for old, old software versions for back when we purchased software...none are accurate as to what we use now anyway.

Hopefully you just are mistaken as to which model you have selected...
the choices are
AirSense 10 CPAP ....which only shows AHI and hours of use as I mentioned above.
and these are all full data
AirSense 10 Elite
AirSense 10 AutoSet
AirSense 10 AutuSet for Her

Tangledhose - saying that my new machine doesn't have all the data is not helping me! It may not be the best machine, but it is WAY better than my old machine.

I am on Medi-cal Caloptima. I pay NO copay. Do really think that I am going to get the best machine out there? Really, we are talking government funded healthcare. For FREE!!! I PAY NOTHING. I work as a nanny part time. So I have very little money. I am grateful for what I can get! You did not answer my question. The only question in my original post was : "How long should I use the machine before trying to look at the data?"
No one has answered this question, just given me crap about your opinion of the data recorded by my new machine.

Is there any one out there that help me with what I have?

No smoke and mirrors here. Just the plain truth, even when it's not what we want to hear, at times.

How were you planning on checking your data? I'm sure if you want you can look at your LCD screen every day for your AHI.

I'm terribly sorry if you feel that someone speaking the TRUTH to you is a bad response and not helpful.

what does your machine say in the bottom right corner? cpap, elite, or autoset?

the CPAP model is the new brick...

you asked for someone to tell you how long to wait before you look at your data.

the answer is, one night. use it for one night and look at the data.

if you have correctly told us what you have, then there won't be any data for you to look at, but please don't be mad at us, be mad at the tech that lied to you.

Don't be angry with us if we tell you that you have a half assed brick...we just tell it like it is.
Doesn't mean we won't help you though...unless you piss us off with attitude.
We help people who have full bricks too. Of course lack of data means a limit to quality of help since it means we have to guess a lot.
Get the software and get whatever data is available from the software...and let's go from there.
One night is sufficient to start with.

I am not sure if the latest SleepyHead will work with this particular AirSense model...but worth trying.
Information on SleepyHead is in my signature line. If it won't work you will need ResScan which is available by request...so send me a private message if you want ResScan. Windows only though..no Mac version.

Guys.....this machine will give AHI...no breakdown though into categories but it isn't entirely without data.
AHI and hours of use...the AirSense CPAP...sort of like the S9 Escape Auto does.

OK,

We got off on the wrong foot.

I didn't ever say your machine was crap, I have one and its a very good machine, I am sure you will like it, and I am sure you will get good therapy results with it.......it is a nice up-grade to what you have had in the past.

As far as your equipment profile, please don't worry about the humidifier selection as this is a machine that has a built-in humidifier.

Also don't worry about the software selection either as that line item no longer applies to the newer setups like yours.

As far as looking at your data there really is no reason to not start looking at it right away. When you get up you can get the last nights sleep report right from the screen on the machine. If your DME or provider set the machine up for you so that you, the patient has access to the AHI readout on you screen sleep report you'll be able to view your AHI number and also see hours used and those smiley faces if your mask is fitting well and not causing big leaks.

You can also download the latest Sleepyhead software (version 9.8.1) that will work with the new Airsense machines.....the link to download is in my signature area down below my post. You'll be able to start building a database of your available daily data right away so you can spot trends over time with your therapy.

I like the new Airsense for several reasons like smaller foot print on the bedside table, the built-in humidifier is very convienent, and you might also like the new Auto Ramp feature that won't begin ramping up until the machines senses that you are asleep. I have had good luck with my Airsense, no problems, and it's nice and quiet.
