Repair cuts or breaks on an F&P HC-431 FF Mask seal

Post by LilBuckaroo » Sat Jun 24, 2006 10:42 am

Is there an easy or efficient way to repair cuts of breaks on the above mentioned mask?
I have this mask and the seal on the Large Size has developed cuts or breaks. I want to repair the breaks. Anybody have any suggestions?

Krazy Glue might work or if the surface is flat. Mole skin, some plans will replace the mask at three months without the headgear. Most will allow new mask and headgear every 6 mo. If out of pocket the seals can be bought for the mask. Jim

At $47+ shipping for one gasket, it sounds like repair is a option, maybe for a short term, clean it with Alcohol, and put surgical tape on the backside of the break. If you could get a clear silcone, (medical grade would be nice but probably not avaiable.) Build to over the crack, and after it sets up, remove the tape and build up on the back side. Just some untried ideas.

Wow... I really would have thought the inserts themselves to be much less than they are.

The mask sells for $110 on Cpap.com but a replacement insert is $47.. for 1 insert.

The mask comes with 3 inserts, small, med and large. So that means they waste ~$80 in inserts when selling the mask to a user that knows what size they need.

I'd try to see who else has the same type of mask that uses one of the other two inserts and come up with a swap of the inserts that aren't needed.

Fyi if you have trouble with the seal in the future, I've seen a steady stream of new FP masks offered on yahoo auctions for less than the cost of a replacement seal online. The new masks also come with a spare seal and slider.
