You have a copy of your RX right? If so, you can get replacement headgear or even a mask from many sources.

If you don't have the RX, there are other sources where you can get what you need.

No profile, no mask listed so we have no idea what you are using. Hard to make suggestions without info from you.

Order a new one online from cpap.com

Don't think you need an RX to buy replacement parts like headgear, you'd only need RX to buy a complete mask.

They said the standing rx expires after a year and mine is expired. Ive had this thing 5 years. I cant believe they wont replace equipment for people who need it.

Lilyaqha: almost all masks use different headgear.
You need to identify what brand/model of mask you have in order to buy new headgear.
The online prices are much lower than MSRP.
If you register, and enter your equipment in your profile,
someone may even have a usable headgear you could have very cheap.

buy another one.

you don't need a rx for headgear.

cpap.com, directhomemedical.com, ebay, amazon.

Pretty unreal that a sleep doctor would not refill a prescription for a CPAP mask they KNOW is essential for your health. My first move would be to talk to your personal physician. All you need is for them to approve a prescription for CPAP supplies (mask, filter, hose, etc). My doctor gave me a complete prescription good whenever and wherever.

Talk to your doctor and get verbal approval, then order supplies from CPAP.com. They will call your doctor's office and get everything they need. You don't need a specialist to refill this equipment! Your physician, dentist or anyone with prescribing ability can do this. CPAP.com has a standard prescription form that you can take or send to your doctor that will take care you. That form is good for life. http://c0149421.cdn.cloudfiles.rackspac ... on-LMN.pdf

Don't confuse insurance eligibility with the right to obtain essential health supplies. The doctor that denied your prescription is wrong and you may request your expired prescription record that must be provided to you by law, upon request. Your personal doctor can then use that prescription information to give you a non-expiring prescription. You need to very clearly communicate to the original doctor's office you will never, ever be their patient again...then give them an appropriate online review. Oh yeah, you need to cancel the February appointment.

Insurance may have limits to what they allow, but these limits can be superceded by a
letter of medical necessity from your doctor. This was how I got my first nasal pillow mask.
--- before BCBS wanted me to get a new mask!

Ebay is also a source for mask parts. On the other hand if you had listed your equipment in
your profile someone reading this might have one they would sell or even give you.

This is the 2nd time this has happened. Sorry if I sound desperate its a lack of sleep. I will contact my primary, and get a standing prescription. Will imsurance cover if its not going thru the specialist?

Insurance won't care. You have already been approved for cpap treatment. All you need is an in network DME.
