Positive Apria story!

Post by sarnadle_vector » Fri Jun 23, 2006 10:46 am

A few night ago, I realized that my 6-ft CPAP hose had sprung a few leaks....so I called the local Apria office and inquired as to how to get a new one. They informed me that they actually don't handle the CPAP stuff out of the Dallas office..but then directed me to the Irving office. So I called them..they took my info and told me to come on by and pick up the hose (or they could send it out). I wanted to pick it up....faster that way.

They also stated that they would call me if there were any complications w/ paperwork, insurance, etc....

They did call..but only to report that there were 'no' problems...and that they were ready for me to come on by.

The next day..I went out to the office...signed a few papers and walked away w/ my hose!

No problems...very quick and easy.

The only silly thing is that they charged my insurance 70.00!!!!! for the hose.

As for the original cause of the hose leaks...I think I got to the bottom of that as well. last night...I woke up to the wound of my cat pawing at the hose.....I think the holes in my last hose were just a bout the size of a little kitty claw

only $70.00 for a $12.00 hose... aren't you glad you pay those high insurance premiums each month.

Almost like selling $300 toilet seats to the government.

I'm curious as to whether your insurance provider picks up the whole amount or whether it applies to your deductible (which means you would have to pay ALL of it anyway), or whether your deductible is met and you still have to pay a co-pay percentage.

Aren't these third party payer systems wonderful?

Though Juries and Politicians seem to be better than the (insurance co./DME complex) at wasting other peoples money.
