I'm actually starting to feel better. Wow.

Post by Minky » Thu Jan 15, 2015 11:43 am

I've been on APAP for about five weeks. After the first two weeks I felt somewhat hopeless because I wasn't feeling any different.

Just this week I've noticed that I'm not falling asleep on my keyboard at the end of the day. When one of my employees comes to ask me a question I genuinely want to help instead of wanting them to just go away and leave me alone. I get to the gym in the morning and want to work out instead of wanting to rest in the car until it's time to go to work.

Another thing that I've noticed is that APAP has taken care of insomnia. My sleep study showed UARS, severe PLMD and chronic insomnia. I find that once I put the mask on my brain knows to go to sleep and I'm out with 20 minutes instead of 1-8 hours (spent many nights where I didn't sleep at all).

What I am doing is sleeping 9-10 hours each night, which I hope will become 7-8 before long because my schedule doesn't really allow me to spend so much time asleep, but for now I'll do what I have to in order to recover.

Thanks to all of you for all of the help you have given me over the past few months.

Build on that lift and improvement with some added healthy lifestyle, exercise, and nutrition decisions that may not have been possible before. That's when the real long-term benefits start to kick into high gear.

I mean, so I hear. Not that I've done of any of that myself.

Thanks for the positive post. Always great to read those.

Glad to hear your doing well... my story is the same. I've been on cpap for just over 2 months now. I used to sleep around 4 hours a night... now i'm sleep 9 hours. It used to take me a couple hours of laying in bed to fall a sleep... now it takes maybe 10 minutes. I used to get up every 2 hours to go to the bathroom... now i get up once. I used to take a acid reflux pill once a day... now i take one a week. I used to not look forward to going to bed... not anymore.

Add me to the list of those feeling so much better. I've been on CPAP for five weeks and I have ENERGY for the first time in years! I look forward to going to sleep instead of dreading it. Hourly nighttime restroom trips are gone, morning headaches gone, acid reflux diminished, dark under eye circles gone, moody irritability gone (well for the most part) I reserve the right to be moody when I so choose. So much has changed and I would encourage anyone who isn't seeing changes yet to NOT give up, it's so worth it!
