I take 1/2 of a pill a day. When my B-12 gets low I have little or no energy.

I take one every other day. Don't notice any difference except on my test results.

I do. I used to get weekly shots, but could not honestly tell the difference. Pills are enough, and cheap.

Thank you.

Say if I took one in the morning, would I feel better that day or does it need to build up in the body?

My friend, who is a nutritionist, is concerned my diet is blocking absorption of some minerals and vitamins. (I am changing the diet.)

I developed a virus called "Parsonage Turner Syndrome", that first attacks nerves, and then muscles. Lasts about 4-5 months. I was told to use B12 to help repair the nerves. Still taking it. Must be one of those multi-benefit vitamins.

Nutritionist with a degree or a trained supplement salesman?

Luckily, unlike some vitamins, B-12 has very low toxicity.

Once you build up your reserves, you body normally retains many months supply of B-12. Wikipedia has a good article. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_B12

I'm not sure, but I suspect the effects take a while to show up, especially with a "healing" type of situation like this.

I'm like you sort of, I have Peripheral Neuropathy in my feet and I take a super vitamin called Metanx only by prescription and they call it medical food. It has in it Folic Acid 3 MG, B6 35 MG and B12 2MG, been taking this years and it works. Take's the stinging out of my feet but there still numb. I take this pill twice a day. So that's 4 MG of B12 a day.

How about you? What degrees do you have that make you think you can give advice on supplements?

That sounds like an admission that your "nutritionist" doesn't have a degree.

Cpapist,

If you have read previous threads, you will see that Archangle and I agree on very little regarding Conventional vs. Alternative Health. But I thought his question about your friend was quite legitimate since many people provide advice on alternative health without being qualified to do so. I am not against supplements and vitamins but just because they aren't meds, doesn't mean they aren't harmless and you can still do alot of damage taking them inappropriately.
