What is the best way to clean my hoses, please? (main and mask)
Re: best way to clean hose
Hoses don't need cleaning. Never should. I don't know what you mean by 'main' (machine?) but machines don't need cleaning either apart from wiping the outside surfaces occasionally. They do come with replaceable filters that keep anything out of the insides that matters. Don't forget you're only breathing room air, just as you did before putting the mask on, but now have filters to help clean out dust, etc. The mask can be cleaned with baby wipes (with no alcohol or petroleum jelly though) and washed in mild (or baby) soap occasionally. That's pretty much all you need to worry about (and I imagine some info will come with it anyhow).

Once a month warm water and soap, then rinse and hang dry all day. Not necessary but makes it smell good.

Re: best way to clean hose
I don't clean the hose very often, maybe once a quarter......the air in the hose is going one way - that would be out from the machine, so not too worried about the inside of the hose getting critters in it as the only air going through has come through the cpap filter and out.
Having said that........when I do clean the hose I let it soak for ten minutes in a bucket with a gallon of water and one ounce of Control III disinfectant solution as per the instructions on the bottle of Control III. Submerge the hose so that it fills with the mixture........after the ten minutes then rinse with water. The Control III is good stuff and kills everything, also leaves behind a very mild scent that is pleasing. You can get the Control III from our sponsors here at cpap dot com.
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/Contro ... eaner.html
In Lieu of the control mixture, one could simply use a mixture of water and soap such as Seventh Generation dish soap.....it has no chemicals, dyes, or oils in it, so it is good for hoses, and masks, but it won't have the disinfecting power of Control III.
Lastly when you rinse the hose, I like to fill it completely with water and hold both ends up equally so that the hose is full of water and look for any water leaking from the hose........the water test is the best way I have found for finding any holes or leaks in the hose, much better than looking for air leaks
By the way, if you have a heated hose you will not damage said hose by submerging it in water........I have the manual for my Climateline hose and it says the way for Clinics to clean the hose is to fully submurge......it won't hurt the hose or the heating elements or electrical contacts. Also best to be sure the hose is completely dry before hooking it back up to your cpap machine.........especially be sure all electrical contacts for heated hose are completely dry.
I received a Huricane CPAP equipment dryer as a gift.........it works very well to dry your cpap equipment, but it was a gift.....I probably wouldn't have spent my own money on it, but it works great for drying cpap stuff and has a attachment that blows warm air down the hose and it gets the hose much dryer inside than I could ever get it by hanging it to dry.
But like I said it's not really necessary to go to that extent...........thing does work great tho

Re: best way to clean hose
For what it is worth:
I was instructed by DME to clean hoses one time a week, soaking them in a solution that is 3 parts water, 1 part vinegar.
I mix the solution up in a plastic pitcher. I then take the hoses and connect both ends to the sides of my sink faucet using a hair twisty with the open ends of the hose pointing to the ceiling. I pour the liquid in one side until it makes it way through to the other side (and a good way to check for holes too). I let that sit and soak for 30 minutes, pour it out, flush with water, and then turn upside down across shower faucet to drip dry.

fwiw, I cleaned my hoses a couple times five years ago, and then said 'to hell with this crap' and didn't bother anymore.
I did replace the two I was using with a single longer one after about four years, because the ends had gotten loose and weren't holding on to the mask connection anymore.

Never bothered. Just replace them once every 6 months or so when the ends get too loose.

Re: best way to clean hose
Once in a great while, there is a funky smell that is not the tank. Then I clean the hose.
White Dawn and very warm water. It's been a while.

Re: best way to clean hose
Thank you all! I was just concerned about the possibility of mold in the main hose connected to my machine since I have a Humidifier.
