I have an old Resmed Elite II. It makes a lot of noise now (otherwise, it was the best that I have tried). Health care authorized new system, tried a few and am having problems with them. Tried new Airsense 10 Auto system, set to be just CPAP. When I exhaled, at the end of the exhale, it seems that the machine was fighting me\recycling\whatever (not on every breath). Turned the EPR off, still had the exhalation problem. Set the EPR from 1 to 3, and the exhalation problem went away. Then I had problems with the inhalation (again, not every breath), right at the end of the inhalation (it's like the machine cuts off\recycles\whatever). The vendor does not stock the basic Airsense 10 CPAP system, because they say that all the auto's can be set to just CPAP. Yesterday, they exchanged for a S9 auto system (again set to just CPAP, and EPR of 3). Again, on the inhalation, I am having problems at the end (the system also made a warbling sound when it was exhaling).
I looked at the setting on my old Elite II. EPR is turned off, and I have no problems with being cut off on either inhalation or exhalation. What is going on here, is there something about these new systems, the fact that they can go both ways (basic CPAP, an\or Auto), that is causing this? Has anyone heard of anyone else that might have experiences these problems? Thanks.
Inhallation\exhallation problems with new systems
Re: Inhallation\exhallation problems with new systems
Try it a bit while you're awake, not all changes are problems, just changes that you need to adjust to. Have you tried sleeping with your new machine? It could be that your breathing will "even out" while you're asleep and you won't notice it. Probably should leave EPR at 3 since you are comfortable with that. The algorithms that the machines obey probably have changed significantly since your Ellite, so it is sensing different things than your old machine.
