CPAP & Klebsiella

Post by monawatusi » Tue Dec 23, 2014 11:56 am

Hi all,
I'm a new user to this site. I just stumbled upon this site looking for some connections to a uti diagnosis earlier this year of klebsiella. It seemed to me from some of the websites I was reading that there might be opportunity for this bacteria to be introduced into your body through use of a CPAP Respironics machine. I have never had a diagnosis of pneumonia or issues other than sleep apnea and snoring. I've used my machine since 2007 with few exceptions. I'm very use to it...actually just received a new machine. I have some other medical issues going on presently and was trying to find some answers. Can anybody direct me to any further reading or understanding? I might need to overhaul my cleaning routine...open to suggestions.

If the bacteria's present in the atmosphere, why would it need to go thru a machine with filters in it?

Plus Kleb. is a known pneumonia cause, but does not cause UTI's that I'm aware of.

The only possible connection between a UTI and cpap use would be if one were wearing it very, VERY WRONG.

Please provide links to those sites.

That's absolute garbage. The air you breathe when you're NOT connected to the machine (and door handles you touch in stores) will spread more germs than breathing filtered air from your CPAP.
I would advise using some logic and that gray matter that's holding your ears apart.

You mean it wasn't about kielbasa? You had me worried, I eat that stuff all the time and all it does is give me the runs.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

UTI? Absolutely no part of your urinary tract should be interfacing with your xPAP. If it is, you were either misinformed about how to use your xPAP, or you need to find a new fetish.

Generally, one should not mix CPAP wiht kielbasa.

Cabbage perhaps, but not CPAP.

I would imagine an emergency air hose made from casings, uncooked, and of course, unstuffed.
