Noise when inhaling

Post by beachbum » Mon Dec 15, 2014 9:07 am

I have a new 560 P and when I inhale there is a noise that is very annoying to the point that I can,t sleep. I have checked for leaks and tried different masks but nothing helps. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you hearing a shift in the pitch of machine sound, or is it in the mask? Mechanical noise or venting air? You're going to have to narrow it down a bit.

It is more a sucking air noise on inhale and smooth no noise on exhale. Old machine did not do this ( Remstar c flex, they kept it when I got the new one) I am using the same masks ,res comfort classic and res confortgel blue. They said they would send a new mask but I have,t got it yet. DME is 2 hr drive.and my doc won,t let me travel due to heart condition. I thought the inhale noise might be normal but its very hard to sleep with it .I spent several hours fooling with it last night.

Hopefully it was a new one that had not yet been purchased yet.

Some machines make some noise in a real quiet room. Where do you have the machine setting?
Current Settings PS 4.0 over 10.6-18.0 (cmH2O) - Resmed S9 VPAP Auto w/h5i Humidifier - Quattro Air FFM
TNET Sleep Resource Pages - CPAP Machine Database
Put your equip in your Signature - SleepyHead v1.0.0-beta-1

Why did they keep it? Why would you let them keep the machine...unless it was not yours.

If the sound is originating at the machine, have you considered putting it into a bedside drawer? My old Remstar Auto with Cflex makes a number of sounds at different parts of inhalation and exhale. I find it distracting in a quiet room, and so keep it in a drawer that cuts the amount of noise I hear. I should get a new machine today, so it will be interestng to hear the difference tonight with the new PR System 1 Auto.

I know the issue you are talking about. I am used to it now, but is not always there. I believe I have stopped it once or twice by taking water tank out and reinstalling the lid and reinstalling the tank in the machine. You might try some different combos of water level and tank installs.
