Respironics C-Flex Pressure Sensors Needed

Post by maui4me » Sun Dec 14, 2014 11:07 pm

Hello all! I just found this site and I hope someone can be of help for my situation. I have a Respironics REMstar Auto C-Flex #1017453 that I've had for a number of years (built in '06) and it has performed well. If you want to avoid reading all of the long-winded explanation of my problem and can help me with what I'm needing, please go to the last paragraph.

About a year ago this CPAP shut down during the night with the error code E-77 that alerted me to a pressure sensor problem. Reading a bit about the nature of this problem with this unit, I easily disassembled it and located the hose barb nearest the air outlet had split and I removed it with plenty of the connector stub left to reconnect the hose. Problem solved until about a month ago when in the middle of the night the air flow shut off again and the alarm sounded showing the same code. I opened it up thinking the hose might've slipped off the connector but that wasn't the case. I put it back together and it ran fine for about an hour and then shut down again. I had to unplug the power each time this happened & etc. making my nights frustrating after this happened with increasing frequency. Now it shuts down in about five minutes. I'm pretty much convinced that an actual pressure sensor is the problem with the unit at this point. I'm in the process of getting a new device but it seems a shame to trash and otherwise great piece of equipment.

Does anyone have available or access to a schematic for my unit showing the parts? I'm assuming that since the circuit board contains practically everything for this unit outside of the fan motor, I'm also assuming parts such as the two pressure sensors it uses are common to other models from Respironics of the same model type and time period. I'd love to be able to find the parts from a scrapped unit to replace them on mine so that I might have a backup machine. It's taken me over two weeks to get to the point of getting a replacement unit. Sleeping in a recliner is for the birds! If anyone can help with either info or parts, I'm heartily thanking you in advance!

Maui, take a look at the post below (it is about 17 postings down from yours). The latest comment is from me a couple of hours ago. It just might help you out as I believe it has me...with a 5 minute fix.

Good luck,

You might want to check with http://www.acbio.com
They're a member of this forum under the user name "Accurate".
About 4 years ago, I purchased a "never used" REMstar Pro 2 which had the same error code. (probably why it never had been used)
I also found the broken hose nipple which connects to the pressure regulating sensors. My machine would continue to increase pressure till it blew my mask off.
Anyway, I contacted the folks at Accurate Biomed and purchased some outlet port kits (PN 1020256) for only a few dollars each which fixed my problem.
Are you running yours in a range of pressures or fixed pressure? You might try a single pressure (CFLE or CPAP mode).
In any case, contact them and see if they have similar or other ideas as to what the problem(s) may be.

He has an older machine than yours and his problem is different.......and your "fix" won't fix his machine.

Thanks to all that responded so amazingly quick! I tear into my machine tomorrow and look around very closely. Thanks again!

The Pro 2 and the Auto (Legacy models) are virtually identical machines except for the internal programming and use the same PCA (mother board).

Here are some instructions for extracting the error codes.

You may or may not wish to erase the codes until after you've contacted acbio.com.

Den

.

6.4 System Error codes
This section contains information on extracting error codes that have
occurred during use of the REMstar Auto with C-Flex or REMstar Pro 2.
There are two ways to extract the information.
6.4.1 Extracting Error Codes from the Unit
Step 1 Hold the humidifier button and ramp button down while
plugging in the power cord. Continue holding the buttons
down until the unit beeps.
Step 2 The most recent error code will be displayed. By pressing
the humidifier key, the unit will show the previous error code,
allowing the user to view the entire error log in a circular buffer
fashion. Only the ten most recent errors will be shown. An E-0
indicates no error.
Step 3 By pressing the ramp key, the unit will display the blower hours
when the error occurred. Pressing the humidifier key will allow the
user to view the hours that each error occurred in a circular buffer
fashion.
Step 4 To erase the error logs, press the right user button. An X will
appear in the lower left corner of the LCD. Then press the
Pressure On / Off key. This will erase all errors and the blower
hours at which the errors occurred, and return the unit to the
system self test screen.

fred, I get that you're all fresh faced and enthusiastic, but it'd really be appreciated if you'd stop posting erronious crap.

least of which is the fact that telling someone "it's 17 postings down" is meaningless, because the post order changes as people post on threads.

maui says " Respironics REMstar Auto C-Flex #1017453... (built in '06)", now, if you knew anything at all about things, you'd realize that the prs1 50 series that you're talking about wasn't introduced until somewhere around four years later, so your well intentioned post will do nothing but cause confusion.

fyi, what maui is talking about looks like this:Image
