I use EPR and my CPAP appears to wait until I begin to exhale to lower rather than being smart enough to predict ~ when I will exhale and basing its timing on that. I found that just a bit annoying; I would be trying to get to sleep and lying there wondering WhyTF won't this machine do a better job of that? There was just a bit of back-pressure resistance as I started to exhale, that I felt did not need to be there; they could have easily ramped that IPAP/EPAP pressure change a little bit (begin lowering the pressure when the inhale starts to wane instead of waiting for an exhale) or the machine could have been better at predicting when I would exhale, or both. There are machines that are capable of that. Then I just ignore the stupidity of that and go to sleep.
But after changing from the FX to the P10 NPs, I wonder if I was interpreting that correctly, because once on the P10s I don't notice that issue anymore. Maybe it has more to do with the way the P10 is structured, and maybe it works with the machine better to avoid that, based on less turbulence or something in some part of the mask. I found that change to be completely unexpected, and somewhat surprising. Not as smart as I think I am, I guess.
But it appeared to be strictly a EPR algorithm issue, and now I am not so sure. Anyone care to speculate?
